  1. Welcome & Introductions & Announcements

HCL announced that Maureen Hartman will be new YS rep after October, both she and

Johannah Genett will attend that meeting.

  1. Approve April 9, 2013 Meeting Minutes

Motion by Genett to approve April 9, 2013 meeting minute. Second by Stratton. Motion carried.

  1. YS 2013 Budget

Budget reviewed.

  1. Summer Reading Experience

Systems provided status updates on their program plans. HCL is planning comprehensive evaluation of Read, Write, Draw and Best Book Ever Forms. James confirmed that the website will be live by June 1. James also requested that pack slips enclosed with any SRP materials shipped directly to the libraries be sent to MELSA. RCL, WCL and SPL have not received all their materials, James will follow up. James will send out logo updates and t-shirt artwork. For statistics we will track counts BBE and RWD review forms. It was decided that evaluation tools would include a general staff survey, library website survey and bookawocky.org survey.

  • An August meeting will be added to kick start 2-14 planning. James will send a doodle poll link.
  • Performers
  • Dakota Wild Animals will not be able to fulfill the majority of bookings. Systems with bookings should consider them canceled, but call/email John to confirm on both ends.
  • Performer Evaluation link will be sent out in very near future.
  • Summer Other
  • ALA Pre-Conference Summer Outcomes: Lisa Pollard will be attending and will report back to the group.
  • CenturyLink Books: MELSA still working on date with rep to sort and box the books.
  1. Pending Projects, Events & Workshops
  • Storytime Showcase: This workshop is still in the works for December. There was also a suggestion to the MELSA office to offer a session on Apps in Storytime. The decision was made to combine rather than offer two workshops.
  1. Other
  • Random House: A rep contacted MELSA about presenting to the YS group. There was no interest at this time.
  • Saint Paul Public Immersive Early Literacy Library: Riverview, Saturday, June 8, 1:00-3:00 for a grand opening with monarch theme will include: milkweed garden, science and learning, homage to immigration, and Blue Rhino installation. Desigend to carry the message that children are welcome.

Tuesday, December 10, 1:00-3:30
