Routine Business
Recording Secretary’s Report-Dec2014 Minutes – Approved as written
Treasurer’s Report-Check from Parks Dept for concession revenue received (Sept home competition).
Review of budget with forecasting for remainder of the year. Presently have projected deficit of ~$3K this year, primarily due to the anticipated neutral revenue from winter guard show (smaller than usual given change in date) and reduced tree sale. Further discussions re: potential areas to cut in budget.
Band Director Report- Jazz band started, concert band going. Abraham Zimmerman selected for All Eastern and All States
Corresponding Secretary’s Report –no report.
Publicity Report – Will send out notices re: Winter Guard competition
Uniform Committee Report-updated list of cleaned uniforms received. Will follow up with students who have not turned in cleaning receipts.
Old Business
Tree Sale- Less trees delivered (409) with delayed delivery so overall revenue is down a bit. Mistletoe was not a great seller, will not repeat next year.
Winter Guard-Show is in 4+ weeks on 2/8/15 from 1-5pm. Dates have been cleared with MHS and MVMMS administrators. 18 units will be competing. Will do a 50/50 raffle and have lottery ticket raffle. Need to sort out what food we should have and scale back given smaller size of show. Consider popcorn and will have bake sale. Sign up genius for help with the show will be sent out soon.
WG team would like to attend 2/7/15 show in at Triton as a practice and to increase participation at this show. Entry fee is $50.
Motion: Provide $50 entry fee for 2/7 Winter Guard show. Motion approved.
WG purchases that are outstanding-flag bags which were originally in the budget. Motion: provide cost for flag bags, motion approved.
WG Fundraisers: Coffee, Tea, and me and LaQchara fundraising event. Will get 10% of sales for the day from all patrons with coupons. Plan is for Feb 11th. In March will sell raffle tickets for day of beauty gift baskets/? tuxedo discounts if able to obtain sufficient merchant gift certificates.
Will also explore Liberty Bell fundraiser.
New Business
Mass Cultural Council Grant- grant received to cover cost of hall rental for Pops concert.
Rotary Grant-submitted some time ago for support to purchase band instruments. Recent communication seeking further information-T Rubbins will follow up.
Scholarship discussion-concern re: total scholarship amount given the number of seniors in band eligible for scholarships. Next budget cycle will add number of seniors into the calculations for budgeted amount. Will postpone further discussion for this year until April when state of current budget will be clearer.
Spring Banquet-will schedule for 5/17/15 at Anthony’s. Plan to review menu selection to see where we can cut costs.
