WORK HISTORY

February 2012 to current – Coordinator of Public Services/Associate Professor/General Reference Library, University of Louisiana-Monroe

Duties include coordinating activities in areas of public service, namely Reference/Information Commons, Interlibrary Loan, and Government Documents; specifically, coordinating the activities and development of 5 full-time faculty, developing and implementing short and long-range plans, departmental policies and procedures; providing reference, research and information assistance, individual and group, to ULM students, faculty, and staff, and community groups; promoting library programs and services; developing teaching aids, handouts, and other materials to assist in classroom instruction; collaborating with teaching faculty to enhance instruction and research; supporting student retention efforts; developing and maintaining adequate collections and resources; assess use patterns, research, and instruction needs of students and faculty; compile departmental statistics; develop reference desk, evening and weekend work schedules and Library schedule of operation for each term; serve on committees (library, university, local, and state); and serve as a liaison for select departments on campus.

July 2003 to February 2012 – Reference librarian/Associate professor, University of Louisiana-Monroe

Duties include providing reference assistance approximately 10 hours/week; scheduling and conducting bibliographic instruction sessions and one-on-one research sessions; creating and maintaining academic subject guides for select departments; serving as a subjectspecialist/library liaison for select departments in the College of Arts & Sciences (English, VAPA, Communication Studies, and Criminal Justice) and Freshman Year Seminar classes; collection development for those schools/departments I serve as a liaison to; creation and maintenance of resource web sites for those departments; and other duties as assigned. This is a tenure-track position; I obtained tenure in September 2009. I am slotted to be promoted to Associate Professor later this year (August 2011).

November 2002 to June 2003 – Coordinator for Library Instruction/reference librarian, University of Missouri-Rolla

Duties included the scheduling and conducting of bibliographic instruction and one-on-one research sessions for myself and the other reference librarians; providing reference assistance approximately 10-15 hours/week; creating and maintaining academic subject guides for select departments; serving as a subject specialist/library liaison for select departments on campus; collection development for those departments; creation and maintenance of resource web sites for those departments; assistance with locating materials for interlibrary loan (locating and pulling from the library’s collection, as well as verifying citations); and other duties as assigned.
