MINUTES OF THE WILSON WIRRAL TENNIS LEAGUE A.G.M. on FRIDAY 22nd NOVEMBER 1999

Meeting opened at 7.40pm

Apologies for absence from; Neston

Not present; Birkenhead, Bertram, North Cheshire and Cheshire Oaks.

Minutes of the 1998 A.G.M. were accepted. Proposed by Sandie Craze and seconded by Simon Banks.

Chairman’s Report.

Thanks were given to Upton V.H. L.T.C. for hosting the evening

Chairman reported that changes to the league structure were accepted well and the majority of clubs and players were generally happy about the change.

The Chairman noted that there were still some late starts and urged clubs to do their best to ensure matches started on time.

Fixture Secretaries Report

This was a quiet season with very few problems. The League tables were made available and distributed. An extra set of league rules was requested for all clubs.

Treasurers Report

The accounts were explained and a small profit was recorded. The accounts were accepted, proposed by Ian gearing and seconded by Norman Nelson.

Subscriptions were to remain the same.

The committee were to look into the possibility of changing the winner’s medals at a cost of about £3.30 per medal.

Rule Changes

There were a number of rule changes proposed and these were shown in copies of the rules with the changes shown in italics. All the changes were adopted. Précised as follows;

Rule 1. To allow the use of a sponsors name.

For, all against none. Motion carried.

Rule 12a, 13a, 21, 25 and 25a. All to accommodate the mens’ and ladies league.

For, All against none. Motion carried.

Rule 14. To change the penalty for player shortage in a higher team.

For, All against none. Motion carried.

Rule 19. To change the points system of points won in matches.

For, 6 against 5. Motioned carried.

Ladies and Gents League

A successful season, but more ladies teams would be greatly appreciated.

The league secretary will now hand the organisation of these leagues to the fixture secretary.

League Doubles Tournament

This was generally accepted as a disaster with a great deal of apathy from clubs and players alike. The tournament was left open to offers from any willing soul to try and resurrect this tragic event!

Presentation Night

It was agreed to continue with the presentation night and Sandie Craze on behalf of Upton V.H. L.T.C. volunteered to host the next event on Friday 15th Sept. 2000.

Election of Officers

All officers of the league were unanimously re-elected.
