Volume #92 December 2011

The PrairieLand RC&D Council has made it to the end of the year! Thank you for all of your support and faith in our mission. We will continue to seek funding to keep our projects current and look for opportunities to fund new projects. We are looking forward to used electronics and scrap tire collections in the early spring and summer, provided we are awarded the grant funds. This means we will need volunteers to help at the collection sites and with the marketing of these events.

The Agri-Eco Tourism Conference is set for the end of January in North Platte, the Sustainable Ag Society Conference will be February 11th in Nebraska City and MarketPlace will be held on February 22nd in Kearney. These are all great events to learn and network!

The No-till Cadre will be supporting the Panhandle No-till seminars in early January, the Norfolk Farm Show on January 11th & 12th, the No-till on the Plains Winter Conference in Salina on January 24& 25th and the Panhandle Winter No-till conference on February 22-23, 2012.

We are looking for support to carry out our mission of “creating a network for all citizens by providing awareness, education and leadership development to enhance the economy, the environment, the natural resources and the quality of life with a vision for the future”.

Please consider becoming involved with the RC&D organization.

Darol Ellwanger and Denise Trine attended a recycling workshop/roundtable in Norfolk. There were several presentations and then the attendees formed groups to discuss the possibilities and problems with recycling in Northeast Nebraska. Denise toured the Wispak facility in Norfolk with about 17 other members of the the Norfolk Green Council.
