Meeting Minutes for Desert Vista Boys Lacrosse Booster Club
Attendee Names: Megan Egan, Derick Rodriquez, Audrey Votto, Kathryn Roa, Patty Royal, Erik Swanson, Diana Lopez, Karen Culp, Julie Ceder, Tricia Mitchell, Kelly Farrell, Chris Phillips, Lisa Rivera, Laura Moore, TC Macey, and Dan Lannon.
Megan Egan called the meeting to order.
Budget Update:
Megan presented the current budget (please see detailed breakdown on DV LAX website). Some variance noted due to lower number of actual players than numbers used for earlier projections and fund-raising changes. In addition, paying Jared Lonto for game pictures and film was not in the original budget. Patty Royal moved and Chris Phillips seconded the motion to pay him $200.00 for his services. The motion carried with all in favor.
Senior Night:
Audrey Votto agreed to spearhead this event, which will be held during a scheduled game on April 11th at Pecos Park. A DJ (with his own equipment) has been scheduled and will start playing music half way through the JV game. Parents should arrive by 6:30 pm. Flowers will be provided for the mom’s of our seven seniors, and questionnaires have been given to the senior players as well. Any questions for this event should be directed to Audrey Votto.
End of Year Banquet:
Scheduled for May 7th at 6:30 pm, and will be held at Foothills Golf Club. Lisa Rivera agreed to chair this event, and Megan listed names of others willing to volunteer. Lisa Rivera agreed to call alternate locations for quotes for 42 players and space for 200 attendees. There was a lengthy discussion about gifts for the players, and it was noted that socks, pajama bottoms, T-shirts and duffle bags have been given in the past. Patty Royal moved and Megan Egan seconded the motion to look into gold, long-sleeved logo T-shirts for gifts this year. The motion carried with all in favor. Lisa Rivera requested that all information to be included in the banquet program be collected early to ensure adequate printing time. Lisa Rivera will send out an email to those that volunteered to plan the banquet.
Coach Update:
DV Stadium game scheduled for April 7th against Brophy. JV will play at 6:00 pm, and Varsity will play at 7:30 pm. Players will wear old ‘throwback’ uniforms that will be distributed Thursday evening at the team dinner at Egan’s house. Derick Rodriquez planned a ‘tailgate event’ at Will Nolan at 4:30; everyone is welcome to attend.
Lisa Rivera asked about Coach Alex that was working with the JV players. Dan reported all the coaches made an effort to contact Alex, and he has not responded to anyone. It is not known why Alex did not continue showing up to coach.
Coach Dan reported that there are 16 eighth grade lacrosse players that are interested in being integrated into our program. Dan is considering forming a ‘JV B Team’ that could play four or five scrimmage games for the remaining season. Additionally, he is suggesting that the players bring their own coach. Shooter shirts will not be offered to them this year, and the fee will be $50.00 per player.
Lisa Rivera inquired if game stats for JV games could be entered online. Megan is looking into the matter.
Varsity playoffs scheduled for April 25th or 26th (Quarter Finals); Semi Finals on April 28th or 29th, and Championship Game held at Arcadia High School on May 5th, 2017.
New Business:
Julie Ceder planned a fund-raising event at Yoasis on April 20th from 11 am – 10 pm. Yoasis will donate a portion of sales to DV LAX; bring flier provided to donate.
There is a possibility of a BarBQ at Will Nolan for the game scheduled on Saturday, April 15th. These plans are pending.
