Education / Alison Bailey / List of universities with GIS programs – 2 tech colleges with tech certificate. Tech, UGA, GaState – post back certificate. Not many online options. GA residents have to look out of state. Tech UGA GSU – masters. No GA school PhD in GIS

  • Discussion: LiDAR cooperation – redo state Hydrology
  • Alison Bailey – University of North Georgia – awarded 609,736 grant – develop applied geospatial and engineering – align surveying with GIS, expanding into masters and PhD program!
  • Working on how do we incorporate and educate high school students about geography and GIS. Students select a major but don’t know about GIS. Work with local school systems to set up GIS labs. Need more GIS professionals mentoring students.
  • Action Plan to modernize the clearing house
  • Creating a business case – living document on google docs.
  • Vote and fund storage for GIS data
  • Need to changes servers and platform from the 90s to today.
  • Want stories from around the state
  • UGA is still willing to host on their server – need some staff to manage data
