MINUTES OF MEETING – March 30, 2017

Meeting held at Los Amigos with President Renee Irwin presiding.

Renee introduced J.R. Fieldsend with AseraCare Hospice in Sioux Falls. AseraCare serves residents and patients in eastern South Dakota and including the elk Point area. John Gille advised that the Clay Union Foundation is always in need of mentors. If anyone is interested in assisting, they can contact John at 605-421-5050, or by E-mail: also stated that plans are in the works for the annual Heritage Bike Ride and 5k run.

Brian Wells informed the group that the annual golf outing would be held on Friday, July 21st, and asked for volunteers to help with this event.

Prairie Estates Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 8th.

Summer Jam committee has been meeting. Seeking a band, food and craft vendors, and activities for Saturday, July 22nd. A movie night will be scheduled for Friday night, the 21st.

CHAMBER MINUTES-MARCH-APRIL, 2017, MEETINGS

MINUTES OF MEETING – April 27, 2017

Meeting held at Los Amigos with President Renee Irwin presiding.

Renee introduced Kirstin Carlson, who in turn, spoke briefly on her new endeavor. Kirstin is Elk Point’s newest Chiropractor, operating under the name Triumph Chiropractic, P.C., and has taken over the former Johnson Chiropractic building. At this time, renovations are taking place and she hopes to have changes completed by mid-May.

Kristal McKee, with the SD Dept. of Labor & Regulations in Vermillion, introduced Brad Henrich, who will be taking Crystal’s place and will be serving the Elk Point and Akron areas.

Parks & Recreation committee advised that all playground equipment has been ordered and hopefully be installed by Fall.

Summer Jam news: We have secured a band – Casey Muessigmann Band (He was on The Voice). Still have plenty of room for food and craft vendors. Movie Friday night, 7-21-17. Nursing Home will serve breakfast Saturday morning. Progress!

Members were advised to think of candidates for a new president, to begin serving June 1st. Renee is resigning due to her becoming president of the Ambulance Board. We will also be needing a new vice president. Get your thinking caps on!

Traci Holmquist advised that allPOINTS Health Services will be merging with Horizon Health Care, Inc., and as of June 1st, will be known as Elk Point Community Health Center. Two medical providers will be transferring to Elk Point and Alcester. More information can be obtained by calling allPOINTS at 356-3317.
