Minutes
The meeting opened and all present identified themselves. Apologies for absences were given and recorded.
The priorities outlined previously were read out:
Priority 1
The new park, was discussed with regards to lighting, litter, graffiti and the safety of young children:
·  PCSO Woodman said that this had been raised with the Town Council and it had been discussed at a previous budget meeting. However, the delay is due to funding.
·  There is an increase in graffiti in the park. It was suggested that a graffiti wall was setup to provide a designated area and to stop further vandalism to equipment. PCSO Woodman will explore this option with the town council.
·  It was highlighted that there is only 1 litter bin in the park. Due to its’ location, it is not used as much as it should be. It was agreed that PCSO Woodman would approach the town council and explore the possibility of included another litter bin.
·  Concern was raised over younger children using the facilities despite the park having been designed and installed for older children. It was agreed that PCSO Woodman would explore the possibility of signage to be erected by the town council.
Priority 2
The lack of facilities in St Athan were brought up, but was agreed that it was no longer a priority issue. A number of activities in the area have been highlighted, including a free blue light disco. It was agreed that updates would be provided via the PACT newsletter of activities and events. The skate park in St Athan is also due for renovation in the immediate future.
Priority 3
The young people are told by shop staff they are not to go into the shops. A small number of people spoil it for others. It is felt that there is no gang culture in Llantwit and yet they are being treated in that way. It has been agreed that the school newsletter along with a letter from PCSO Woodman would be sent to all local businesses highlighting the excellent work of the school and pupils in and around Llantwit Major.
It was also highlighted that the landlord(s) of the empty shop units in the town centre are being spoken to with regard to using them to display posters, etc about the good work that the school and pupils are doing.
Other points raised:
·  There had been recent damage to the astro-turf at Windmill playing fields. Although one local young person has been dealt with for this, it is apparent that others are involved. Everyone was asked to be vigilant and report any damage, etc.
·  It was felt that there was a lack of lighting along the footpath and play areas at Windmill playing fields. It was highlighted the possible anti-social behaviour element if there was more lighting, but it was agreed that it would be explored with the Vale council.
The Priorities were summed up as follows:
1.  New Park in Rugby Club field. i.e. safety of young children being hurt possibility of warning sign, fence and gate. Also a lighting timer.
2.  Youth Respect. To include advertising of good things done by youths in the area.
