Attendance taken at main table – tracked separately

Meeting called to order by VJ Sarullo at 8:09pm

Notes taken by Michael Merchant – League Secretary

  • Dawn Fannera has been announced as the safety commissioner. Motion by Joe Zarnoch, 2nd by Ed Moyer, all in favor, no oppositions, and motion is passed and Dawn is the new safety commissioner.

Finances - Mark Deitelbaum

  • Working on finalizing some last minute things, should end the year with about $7,000 in cash. We are in good shape with the finances, however overall, working on next years budget. Should be able to budget a surplus in 2013 of around $20,000, which should be conservative based on last year. Gives us some room to have some projects
  • Ideas on projects from membership: Liptak could use some tree trimming. Working on some help for the Gehrig outfield fencing to get rid of the gap under the fence, and other major projects that may come up during the year. Idea came up to have clinics pre season for our returning members, possibly at NEBS

Secretary Report – Mike Merchant

  • In short, meeting minutes at the front table and always posted on line under documents, we are tracking attendance for the membership, along with tracking manager sign ups to keep them secure.

VP Report - Joe Cretella

  • Raffle – Submitting the form to the police for approval, and will be following a similar plan to last year, similar prizes will be donated and purchased as in 2012. Cost is about $3000 to run the Raffle and all above and beyond is profit. Goal is to hand out tickets at the draft. Request is to offer a membership at NEBS for the raffle; it will be taken in consideration with the board.
  • We received a signed hockey NHL Jersey, and we are considering using it as giving the child that sells the most tickets in the league we give it to that child. It’s a signed Rangers Jersey.

Player Agent - Gary Schulte

  • 62 players signed up so far, most through the Internet. Working on a plan for the evaluations, draft is set for March 10th at the Elks, Opening day is 4/27, and first game is 4/22. We will have a plan for the evaluations to make sure they run smooth.

Umpires - Joe Trapani

  • Not Here tonight – However, at the clinics there will be some opportunities to call Balls and Strikes at some clinics to get used to balls and strikes. Assigning 1st and 2nd year umpires to have practice games prior to the season to utilize this time to get some extra practice. Joe will be trying to have an experienced umpire on the bases along with a younger umpire when they are behind the plate. We will also be purchasing some scheduling software that will take care and monitor most of what we have including reminders.

Equipment - Dan Maxwell

  • Need some tball t’s, waiting on some pricing. We need throat protectors, and are ready to order the uniforms. All prices went up, hoping to use City Stichers which is $20/shirt, looking to get them ordered SOON, so they are ready to be handed out at the draft. We are in good shape on game balls, get us through much of the season, however we need to find out if we have practice balls coming from Dick’s like last year.

Fields - Ed Flynn

  • Work Parties and clinics will be done at the field to take care of the fields early In spring before games, along with a quick update on the snack stand duties. Dates will follow on the dates.
  • Bids will be done again on fields and for fence repair work.
  • Question came up to line the field by umpires, it will be discussed, however the managers should be responsible for the fields and lining the fields, more to follow
  • Helmet racks will be added to all fields

Safety – Dawn Fannera

  • Insurance company is requiring a lot of paperwork as it has not been done in full in the prior years, Dawn is working on getting it done ASAP.

Snack stand – VJ

  • Elks had interest in running the stands but are NO longer interested, it didn’t work financially for either party, us or them. It will be ON us. We are looking for a committee that has a responsibility to order the food and keep it stocked and filled. Looking for committee volunteers

Commissioners Update:

  • Majors – Steve McCullough
  • No Updates
  • Farms – Mike Shannon
  • No Updates
  • Coach Pitch – Chad Bedell
  • No Updates
  • T-Ball – Paul
  • We may be waiving the T-Ball fee for first time managers in the league, trying to avoid not having managers and get some help in the league in this division.

Webmaster Update – Joe Boreski

  • Nothing right now

Sr. League – VJ

  • Need to continue on a successful path for our future. Clear that we are losing numbers because we don’t have a 13 year old only division. We contacted Orange, they are NOT going to do a 13 year old only. FFLD county is NOT having one, we are waiting to hear back on this. Orange may talk to us about it, but may be too late to make this happen at that point. It’s a work in progress, hoping for something good to happen.

Old business - VJ

  • Managers will be announced at the next meeting, however MUST be a paid member.
  • We made a donation as a league to the family of a sick child and the family wrote a letter to Thank our board and members for the gift.
  • Picture bids – we are going to continue with Bishops as they have done a great job with us in the past. The price is right in line and within the bids receive and they give us much in return, and they run it smoothly. Report at the next meeting on the photos
  • Coaches clinic – It will be revamped a little bit, in the past we did this in Feb, however we will likely do this after all managers are chosen, closer to practices. Date to follow along with agenda of what we will be covering.
  • Some rule changes. Pitch count threshold will change a little bit. In the past, they could finish a batter if they were at 75. District teams must carry 12 players unless the league provides a justifiable reason as to why they cannot. Also, can practice on 6/15, OR, 2 weeks before first game, which ever comes first for All Star/Post Season play. A pitcher cannot switch hands during an at bat and pitch the other hand. We will have clarification on this rule, which is illegal bats that are used in a game, batter is out and the player is ejected. More to follow to clear this up.

New business - VJ

Motion to adjourn by:

  • Dan Maxwll, Joe Zarnoch 2nd, no oppositions. Meeting adjourned at 9:13 PM.
