MOSTYN, Wales UK is delighted to announce a solo exhibition by French artist Camille Blatrix, produced in collaboration with Fondation d'entreprise Ricard, Paris.

In 2014 Blatrix was awarded the prestigious Prix d’entreprise Ricard, which annually awards a monetary prize to an emerging French artist whose work has been exhibited at the Foundation’s space in Paris. Blatrix’s work was purchased by the Foundation, and then donated to the Centre Pompidou in Paris. For the16th edition of the Prize, and for the first time in its history, the Foundation wished to honourthe artist with, in addition to the award, a solo show outside France.

The exhibition, the first showing for Blatrix in the UK, presents entirely new work by the artist and responds, in part, to his visit to MOSTYN and the town of Llandudno in 2014. The trip reminded him of childhood memoriesand of returning from a large city to a smaller town to visit family and friends. For the show, Blatrix has invited his parents to present their own work (his mother is an artist and his father isa former artist), which reflects the feelings that arose during his visit to MOSTYN. In so doing, the exhibition comes to discuss issues of biography, influence, upbringing and artistic career.

This exhibition is curated by Alfredo Cramerotti (MOSTYN Director) and produced by MOSTYN, Wales UK and Fondation d’entreprise Ricard, Paris.

With its spirit of dialogue and collaboration, No Schoolis part of theConversation Series, a sequence of shows at MOSTYN thatbrings together two exhibitions in conversation. The intention is to present the dialogue, collaboration or similarity in exploring themes that can occur between artists, and to put this in conversation.

Previous Conversation Series exhibitions include:
Irma Blank / Amalia Pica Nov 2014 – March 2015
Ryan Gander / Bedwyr Williams April – July 2014
Fernando Garcia-Dory / Radovan Kraguly Sept 2012 – Jan 2013

ABOUT FONDATION D’ENTREPRISE RICARD

Established in 2006, the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard is carrying on the art sponsorship work the Ricard Company has been engaged in for almost twenty years, and has been a springboard for a whole generation of artists.

The foundation exists to back today's French art and increase its visibility nationally and internationally.

Situated in the heart of Paris, the Fondation is a venue for exhibitions, creativity and encounters in the context of art in its most contemporary forms. Every year the foundation engages curators for six exhibitions by young artists.

As a place for the exchange and diffusion of ideas, the foundation also hosts symposia on subjects including contemporary art, sociology, literature and philosophy, as well as performances.

Created in 1999, the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard Prize was the first one to be awarded to emerging talents in the young contemporary art scene. Its special feature is the purchase of a work by the winner which will appear in the permanent collections of the Centre Pompidou.

In 2014 the Foundation decided to go one step further and offer the prize winner the chance to work on a personal project. Thus, Camille Blatrix (Ricard Prize winner 2014) has got the possibility to realize a solo show at MOSTYN and his work “Place Georges-Pompidou, 75004” (2015) has entered the collections of the Centre Pompidou.

This dynamic clearly illustrates how close the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard is to the young French art scene and its conviction that this scene must be even more visible abroad.
