Puccini’s timeless verismo score is well served by two exceptional casts. Patricia Racette and Sondra Radvanovsky share the title role of the jealous diva, opposite two leading tenors—Roberto Alagna and Marcello Giordani. George Gagnidze is the villainous Scarpia. Tosca is a co-production of the Metropolitan Opera, the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Teatro alla Scala.

Anna Netrebko and Mariusz Kwiecien star as the love-struck Tatiana and the imperious Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s fateful romance. Deborah Warner’s new production, directed by Fiona Shaw, is set in the late 19th century, with a powerful snowstorm providing the dramatic setting for the finale. Piotr Beczala is Lenski, Onegin’s friend turned rival. Russian maestro Valery Gergiev conducts.

William Kentridge stormed the Met with his inventive production of Shostakovich’s opera, which dazzled opera and art lovers alike in its inaugural run in 2010. Now Paulo Szot reprises his acclaimed performance of a bureaucrat whose satirical misadventures in search of his missing nose are based on Gogol’s comic story. Pavel Smelkov conducts.

Five ‘rock stars’ of the bagpiping world get their kicks on Route 66 as they play an unforgettable concert tour down the Mother Road of America. Scottish pipers Willie McCallum, Stuart Liddell and Angus MacColl and drummer Jim Kilpatrick join forces with American percussionist Mike Cole in Chicago for the 2,400-mile journey to Los Angeles. Interweaving incredible music with the band members' personal experiences, the film entertains and enlightens, offering a unique view of America, its fascinating people and places through the eyes of these foreign visitors.

The choreographer, who is renowned for her organic, poetic style, describes Parade and Frontier as two completely different worlds, which are connected by a few similar motives and characters. In her own words: “Frontier looks outward to the frontier of the universe and wonders about dark matter and the invisible forces that shape and evolve us. Realizing the situation is a case of mistaken identity, The Dude discovers another Jeff Lebowski living in LA. The next day, The Dude gets a call from Lebowski saying Bunny's been kidnapped for a $1 million ransom. Lebowski offers The Dude 20 grand to act as the courier for the money. The Dude agrees, taking along his bowling buddy Walter, who suggests they blow off the kidnapping and steal the money for themselves. The Dude disagrees but when Walter hands the kidnappers a bag of laundry, they are in deep. Things only get worse when The Dude's car is stolen with the $1 million inside..

A Danish woman marries a baron whom she doesn't love and moves with him to his Kenyan coffee plantation. The National Gallery, London, is offering a major exhibition on one of the most startling and fascinating artists of all-time Johannes Vermeer, painter of the Girl with a Pearl Earring. Vermeer painted little more than 30 works that still exist, and the National Gallery has chosen to focus on his art in relation to music. Music was one of the most popular themes of Dutch painting and revealed an enormous amount about the sitter and the society. The event film goes beyond the exhibition to tell the entire story of Vermeer's life and, in doing so we show in detail many other of the artist's great works. The program will suit the wide audience who adore Vermeer's work and who want both to see it in detail and to learn more about this mysterious, fascinating man.
