REMINDER notes…
Honor Choir rehearsals will be at Murphy HS on Wednesday and Thursday, February 22 & 23, 2017, from 8:30AM to 1:30 PM.
We will leave PPS around7:45 AM each day onanMCPSS school bus, ridingto & from Murphy High School each day.
Teachers have been notified that singers will be absent, and students should discuss these absences with their teachers this week, and, when available, gather class work and homework assignments that will be missed. Each day when we return, they may also check outside the classrooms for assignments.We will not interrupt classes to get assignments on these 2 days. Students are responsible for keeping up with all missed work! Upon our return each afternoon, students may report to the final period of the day, or to a class of their choice which they are afraid to miss for skill instruction, or they may stay with me for the remaining time for study hall in the cafeteria to do as much work as possible, in an effort to not get too far behind. Assignments should be turned in at the times teachers assign, if possible; however, all work should be submitted by the end of day, Friday, February 24 (before Mardi Gras break), if not sooner.
Students are to bring their music and 2 sharpened pencils to all rehearsals.
Students are expected to be on their best behavior at all times for all Honor Choir activities (i.e. NO talking during rehearsals!) Mrs. Sheets will be with our PPS students to help monitor rehearsal behavior and respond to student needs, if necessary.
Each day, students may bring a sack lunch, an unopened screw-top lunch beverage, an unopened screw-top water bottle for rehearsals. Bring a beach towel to sit on.Murphy Chorus will also be selling lunches (pizza one day, Chick-fil-A the other – w/ chips, drink, etc.). IF A STUDENT WISHES TO PURCHASE THE LUNCHES, THEY MUST BRING $15 BY TUESDAY, 2/21, TO RESERVE THEIR MEALS. BOTH LUNCHES are a “package deal”.
Students should wear the “official” PPS school uniform each day to rehearsals: PPS brown shoes, ankle socks, skirt (appropriate length w/ shorts underneath) or khaki pants, white button down shirt (white undershirt only, if desired), PPS sweater or fleece (the building may be cold). I will let students know if we will wear our PPS chorus t-shirt on the 2nd day of rehearsals.
The HONOR CHOIR FESTIVAL CONCERT will be Thursday night, February 23, at 6:30 PM at Murphy High School’s auditorium. Middle school and high school honor choirs are supposed to be performing.
Students are to wear the HONOR CHOIR T-SHIRTand their PPS school uniformskirt/pants, socks, & shoes to the concert, and again to school on Friday, 2/24.
Students will need to provide their own transportation to & from the evening concert on 2/23, arriving at Murphy’s auditioriumand on stage for a sound check NO LATER THAN 5:45. Other details (or changes, if needed) to be confirmed at rehearsals.
Family & friends are invited to attend the free evening concert on 2/23. Please plan to stay for the entire hour-long concert.
Mrs. Sheetswill ride the bus & be with our PPS students at Murphy during rehearsals & at the concert. (In case of emergency, Mrs. Sheets’ cell phone # is 454-6846.)
