Governance Council Training
Open Meetings/Records presentation/training by Joe Reitman and Lee Abney – hardcopy of presentation available in Chairperson’s notebook.

Old Business
System Calendar – The Calendar Task Force will provide sample calendars and the Council will be asked to provide feedback to the School Board after the first of the year.

Governing Council Bylaws – Continued to review the bylaws prior to their adoption. Section 3.4 will be rewritten; other edits are being made based on feedback from the group and will be reviewed at the next meeting. Articles 6 -13 should be reviewed by all before the next as they are new at this time. Intent is for the council to amend as necessary and approve the completed bylaws at the December meeting.

New Business
Reviewed the Lt. Governor’s Invitation to “A Conversation with Neerav Kingsland” on December 5th. All are encouraged to attend.
AdvancED Update – School accreditation officials will be at the school April 13-16, interviews likely with Council members.

Principal’s Report
We are $950 closer to getting a Golf Cart, Lions Club may help.
Amy BeMent is Teacher of the Year for MCHS.
Boys and Girls Club is starting Smartgirls, a decision making training program.
AP Banquet was held recently. MCHS has 47 AP Scholars and 2 National AP Scholars.
The new Step Team added lots of fun to the Pep rallies and was great
Sandi Bell is retiring in December of this year and will be replaced.
MCHS is hiring a new part time nurse who will split time with Mary Ellen Ramsey - this will provide full time nursing coverage.
