The Presidential Talent Scholarship, MCC’s most prestigious scholarship, is awarded each year to qualified individuals based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community involvement.

Recipients of the Presidential Talent Scholarship tuition waiver will receive 60 (in district) credit hours of tuition at McHenry County College. The scholarship does not pay for fees or books. Recipients are required to enroll in at least twelve (12) credit hours per semester (fall and spring), maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and complete a minimum of 15 service hours each semester (fall and spring).

Please note that eight (8) total Presidential Talent Scholarships will be awarded.

Presidential Talent Scholarship

2016-2017 Application Instructions

Recipients of the scholarship will receive a maximum of 60 (in district) credit hours of tuition at McHenry County College. The scholarship does not pay for fees, books or other non-tuition related expenses. Recipients are required to enroll at least twelve (12) credit hours each fall and spring semester, maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and complete 15 service hours each fall and spring semester. Failure to meet these requirements will result in loss of the Presidential Talent Scholarship.

NOTE: Students are encouraged, but not required, to be enrolled in summer sessions. Any exceptions must be approved by the Director of Financial Aid. Students may apply for other scholarships/tuition waivers; however, only one waiver will be awarded and others voided.

To apply for the scholarship, you must:

§  Be a McHenry County College district high school graduate from December 2015 — June 2016 with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

§  Complete this application and submit all required documents.

Please note that only eight (8) total Presidential Talent Scholarships will be awarded throughout the McHenry County College district.

Your application must include:

Part One: Introduction

§  Completed Presidential Talent Scholarship Application.

§  High school transcript showing ACT or SAT scores in a SEALED envelope from high school.

§  Two letters of recommendation on official stationery from high school teachers, school officials or community leaders.

Part Two: Essay

Write an essay up to 1000 words. Essay must be typed. Use Times New Roman, 12 pt. font.

§  Your essay should outline how the scholarship will change or impact your life. Include an overview of your educational and career goals.

Application Deadline:

Application and all supporting materials must be submitted to the McHenry County College Financial Aid Department no later than February, 12, 2016. Application materials received after that time will not be considered.

All materials must be submitted as one packet. Application materials should be submitted in a secured report cover, including a cover page.

Applicants will be notified as to whether they have been selected to receive

one of the eight Presidential Talent Scholarships.
