Meeting Highlights

Representatives ofMCEF churches met on Monday, July 13th to discuss the work being done throughout the community to help seniors and families. It is important for someone from each church attend the monthly meetings so they can hear the information and participate in the discussions about ways to help the community and ideas for fundraising.

News and Needs

  1. Please distribute and post the flyer about the MCEF Community Olympics – we are hope this will be an annual event and the major fundraiser for MCEF. It’s time to organize and register teams to participate.
  1. The September meeting is our Annual Meeting to begin the new fiscal year. We hope pastors, MCEF reps, and benevolence/missions/outreach committeeswill come to hear reports on accomplishments made this past year and goals set for the upcoming year. September 14th 6:30-8:30 at Trinity Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 8469 Atlee Rd
  1. Senior Rides Report

In June: 38 rides / 4 requests not filled because no driver available

2nd Quarter (April 1- June 30): 82 rides / 2544 miles and 192 hours of service to our neighbors.

DRIVERS NEEDED!!! Please help us to promote this need – this bulletin insert can be used completely or used as a guide for an announcement in the bulletin and/or newsletter:

Want to help some of your neighbors? The MCEF Senior Rides program needs volunteer drivers to provide transportation for seniors in the Mechanicsville area. As a volunteer driver, you will be helping seniors who can no longer drive by taking them to medical appointments, to grocery shopping or to do personal business. The MCEF Senior Rides Program provides insurance on your vehicle and will reimburse you 25 cents per mile and you choose the hours that you will be available. Contact us at 357-9360 or for more information on the MCEF Senior Rides program.

  2. Pantry: egg cartons – the pantry is giving away eggs instead of canned chicken
  • Linen Closet (Mechanicsville Presbyterian): king & queen sheets
  • Children’s Closet (Shady Grove Methodist): boys size 12 – all types of clothes

5. Stevi B’s – Monday night, July20th (3rd Monday of every month)

Please help to promote this fundraiser to support MCEF – All you have to do is turn in your

receipt and enjoy pizza!! And kids eat for 99 cents on Monday nights!!

6. Lost & Found: a Bible, “Joseph Martin” written in it. Let me know if you can help return
