McConnell HRC is a boutique HR management consulting firm based in Ottawa. We specialize in providing Human Resourcesand OD services to NGO’s, associations, agencies and non-profits. We hope that you will find some of the project topics, ideas and solutions listed below useful in your business.

HR Strategy / HR Management

Results: We streamlined and improved HR service delivery

  • Delivered ongoing ‘in-sourced’ HR management services to the Canadian Pharmacists Association, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK), United Way Canada, and the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada.
  • Conducted an HR Assessment and provided HR services to the Canada Green Building Council.

  • Conducted Succession Planning Analysis for the Canadian Payments Association.
  • Assisted the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities with recruitment and staffing.
  • Delivered management training workshops on Performance Appraisals and Evaluation for United Way Canada and the Canada Green Building Council.
  • Completed a Key Position Assessment Review for the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation.

  • Revised the current HR Management Guide for Canadian ICT Companies for the Information and Communications Technology Council.

Compensation

Results: We improved the design and delivery of Compensation programs

  • Conducted CompensationReviews, Salary Surveys, Market Assessments and prepared strategic Compensation Policies for the: Renfrew County Catholic District School Board, Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, Canadian Dental Hygienists Association, Canadian Cooperative Association, and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society.
  • Completed a Compensation Framework Review for Engineers at Hydro Ottawa.
  • Provided ongoing Job Evaluation Services to the Canadian Medical Protective Association and United Way Centraide Ottawa.
  • Assisted the Champlain Community Care Access Centre with Executive Compensation Planning.

  • Prepared a Compensation Policy and Program for the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.

Organization Design

Results: We successfully facilitated a variety of organizational renewals for clients

  • Completed Organizational Analysis and Design projects for the: Medical Council of Canada, Communications Branch at the National Research Council, and theCommunications Branch at the Canadian International Development Agency.

  • Tim spoke on ‘HR Planning in an Age of Austerity' to an audience of HR professionals from the public sector at Infonex 2012.
  • Our article on HR Outsourcing was published in the winter 2012 newsletter of the Canadian Society of Association Executives, Ottawa-Gatineau chapter.
  • Tim McConnell conducted a National Webinar on Compensation Planning for CCH Canada in Sept. 2011.
