GUIDELINES

The MBCC Industrialisation Kick Start Projects aim to unlock the commercial potential of composite technology that is close to commercialization and job creation. In other words, composite technology related projects that “cross t’s and dot i’s” in order to land a potential customer, start commercial production, fine-tune a manufacturing process, get a material ready for market, test a proto-type, etc.

The MBCC is requesting proposals for short high-impact interventions:

  • Maximum project duration: 6 months
  • Available budget: R50-100k per project

The MBCC welcomes proposals from composite-related companies throughout South Africa, with a preference for:

  • Proposals from existing MBCC cluster participants (but you can also become a member once project is awarded.
  • Projects that are submitted using the template
  • Projects that are partially co-funded by the applicant (e.g. the R50-100k contribution from the MBCC covers part of the project activities, whereas the remainder is financed by the applicant)

Qualifying cost:

  • Manhours (up to 100% of the budget)
  • Materials and consumables (up to 33% of the budget)
  • Testing services (up to 50% of the budget)
  • Renting time on third party equipment (up to 33% of the budget)

Non-Qualifying cost:

  • Travel
  • Marketing and Commercial activities
  • Purchase of equipment and moulds

Successful applicants are expected to join the Mandela Bay Composites Cluster.

PEOPLE

List each person working on the project as well as collaborators from outside.
