BC/Radio-Canada is Canada's national public broadcaster and one of its largest cultural institutions. With 29 services offered on Radio, Television, the internet, satellite radio, digital audio, as well as through its record and music distribution service and wireless WAP and SMS messaging services, CBC/Radio-Canada is available how, where, and when Canadians want it.

Through this array of activities, CBC/Radio-Canada brings diverse regional and cultural perspectives into the daily lives of Canadians in English, French and eight aboriginal languages, in nine languages on its international Radio service, RCI, and in eight languages on its web-based radio service RCI viva, a service for recent and aspiring immigrants to Canada.

Talent Management/Succession Planning:

In the next five years, approx. 25% of CBC's employees will be eligible for retirement. As an organization which is looking to the future, we need to ensure succession plans are in place. The CBC is developing a succession planning tool which will give CBC leaders an opportunity to build a succession plan by person or position. CBC British Columbia is looking for a Business Analyst Intern for an 8-10 week period to assist us with this project.

The essential duties performed by an intern would include:

  • gathering and analyzing information from a variety of sources;
  • identifying critical positions and assessing the impact;
  • developing competency profiles for critical positions;
  • identifying specific knowledge retention needs of the organization;
  • identifying potential successors and/or staffing strategies to address the issue;
  • developing a recruitment plan which may include mentorships and outreach opportunities;
  • communicating findings to stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing or Business Management
  • Ability to analyze complex data
  • Excellent organizational ability
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Creative thinker with good problem-solving skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Good communicator, both verbal and written
  • A high degree of interest in human resource issues
