mayr®power transmission at Wind Energy 2016

mayr®power transmission, the leading provider of reliable pitch brakes presents innovative monitoring solutions at the Wind Energy 2016 in Hamburg.

In the field of wind power, the focus is increasingly being placed on the monitoring of electromagnetic pitch brakes. As the market leader, mayr® power transmission sets new standards with intelligent brake control modules for sensorless condition monitoring and braking torque regulation. The ROBA®-brake-checker module, for example, does not only energise brakes, but also monitors them without the use of sensors. It detects the switching condition of the actuator as well as wear of the brake linings. In this way, safety-critical conditions can be detected before they occur. The ROBA®-torqcontrol module shares these characteristics, and, moreover, can adjust the braking torque level during operation. In addition, mayr®has developed a proximity sensor for the condition monitoring of theROBA-stop®-M CCV brakes. It is currently the only sensor for pitch and yaw brakes on the market, which has been approved for applications to -40°C. Newly-developed friction linings, which allow the brakes to achieve higher braking torques, permit increased performance density of the reliable mayr®-wind power brakes. This means that, if necessary, a smaller brake size can be chosen– an advantage when mounting the brakes onto increasingly more compact motors or when installing the brake into the rotor hub.
