Meeting Purpose: Discuss next steps for Release 2 of the HL7 Child Health Functional Profile for EHR Systems

Child Health Functional Profile for EHR Systems
The group reviewed a draft working spreadsheet for edits to the Child Health Profile, discussed plans for recruiting volunteers and outlined the following approach:
Approach
1. Recruit volunteers
2. Edit our profile as desired
3. Review with gaps in Westat project (Model EHR Format for Children)
4. Review with gaps in HL7 EHR FM R2
5. Make decision whether to publish as update to current Profile or to finalize matching with structure of new to-be-released EHR FM R2
Other recommendations:
· Initial work should have bias toward editing vs. adding new criteria
· Let’s draft talking points toward the end of the project that can be used by participants and supporting organizations to promote use and adoption by vendors (e.g. the top 10 most important criteria to implement in 2012-2013). Can be used as a tool to generate advocacy messages and as a road show presentation for industry meetings, with vendors, etc.
Action Items
· Joy to create 1-page overview about project to recruit volunteers; Work through Alliance partners, HL7 and HIMSS Pediatric SIG to recruit participation
· Send poll to schedule regular working sessions for Child Health Profile R2; Initial meetings will be education sessions for new volunteers; The group wants to meet bimonthly
· Determine desired ballot cycle, update project scope statement for approval through HL7
· Invite EHR WG representative to working session for update on EHR FM R2 and a summary of major structural changes
· Determine dates for January meeting at the HL7 Working Group Meeting – Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, so may look at Tues/Wed meeting - 1/17-1/18 2012 instead. Joy to distribute poll
