Alumni Society Board Member Position Description
Board Structure and Size: The Fisher College of Business Alumni Board, (the “Board”), ranges in size from 25 to 50 members and represents the diversity of all Fisher alumni. This diversity will be accomplished by selecting members who represent the graduate and undergraduate communities, each of the academic programs, junior and senior alumni, various business areas and industries, as well as gender, ethnicity, age, and geographical location. Nominations for new board members will come from the college and current board members and evaluation of potential new members will be conducted by the Membership Committee. All Board members must be current members of The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Inc. and make charitable financial contributions to the college annually.
Term on Board: Each member will serve a three-year term with the opportunity to renew. Renewal will be based on several criteria, including attendance at meetings and contributions to committees and special events. The Membership Committee is responsible for the renewal process, in conjunction with the Director of Alumni Relations and the Associate to the Dean of Development and External Affairs.
Meetings: The Board will meet twice a year, in the Fall and Spring, typically in conjunction with the annual Alumni Awards program in the Fall and with the Pace Setter or Dean’s Leadership Conference in the Spring. Meetings will be held on campus and travel expenses are at the board member’s expense. Members are expected to attend all meetings.
Committees: Each Board member is expected to join and actively participate on at least one committee. Current committees include, but are not limited to, Recruitment, Networking, Placement, Alumni Awards, Pace Setters, and Membership. Each committee will select a Committee Chair who will give a report at each Board meeting on current projects and activities.
Events and other job duties: The college will host a number of events around the country and at the college. Board members should support these events whenever possible, as requested by the college.
Summary of Expectations: Board members are expected to:
· Attend all board meetings
· Be an active member of a committee
· Assist in special events when called upon
· Be current members of The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Inc.
· Support Fisher College through annual charitable giving
This position description will be reviewed annually by the Membership Committee and updated accordingly with the Board’s approval.
