FINANCIAL REPORT

The accounts for year ending 31st March 2008 were circulated, approved and signed. This was preceded by a general discussion :

a.  Precept – we had successfully applied for a precept of £300 from ELDC following an extraordinary meeting on the 7th January. This will help towards costs as now we have new Accountants/Auditors and it is certain that they will insist that we have separate accounts for the Parish and the Poors Field. As the only income is from the Field, the parish account cannot survice without the extra funding.

b.  Our Insurance has increased to £181.53

c.  Thank you to all the people who had returned the forms re. the Christmas Distribution and the amount will be decided a little nearer Christmas.

7.

PLANNING APPLICATIONS – Plans were on view for anyone to inspect.

For :

Wheelabout Wood – Mandy and Keith Barron

Jeff and Ivy Chappell

Pedersens – Mavis Enderby House

8.A O B

·  NHWatch Signs now in place – ringmaster e-mails working – Elsie to advise re. Farm Watch

·  Our Seat had been beautifully repaired by Martin – big thank you to Martin.

·  Flood Plan – Each Parish has been requested to have its own Plan. We have a good supply of Sandbags (but no sand !!) and a plan of all the drains and hydrants throughout the village. Any extra help updating all this would be appreciated.

·  Poors Field : Still the saga rolls on ! We have submitted an Application to the Land Registry to register the field but this has been rejected as we do not have sufficient proof of ownership. Liz has been to see a Solicitor who wanted to charge approx. £250. plus vat to assist us with this but we have declined on the grounds that they will only produce what we can probably do ourselves. Liz is now intending to produce a document with as many extracts from all the Minutes dating back to 1894 plus a copy of our Tenancy Agreements etc. etc. plus a Statutory Declaration and resubmit our Application to the Land Registry with the hope that this will be successful.

·  Accounts to be submitted to the Charity Commission and this can now be done online.

·  Forthcoming events :

Church Summer Clean Up – 21st June

Harvest Festival – 3rd October

Carols – 12th December

·  Web Site: We can have a Web site provided free of charge by the Council. Liz has started the ball rolling and registered our interest. Discussion followed re ideas – photos, church, local information etc etc and this will now be pursued. See Adrian Sullivan for his thoughts and ideas

·  Petition :

·  We have submitted a Petition to the Highways Dept. in an endeavour to have some traffic calming restrictions – speed limit etc. etc. and we have now received a reply advising that the matter will be investigated. We will keep a close watch on this.

·  It was proposed by Bob Kirk and seconded by Don Harris that we should investigate the possibility of increasing the rent of the field to Messrs. Gaunt and Co. This will be checked by Liz.

9. Meeting closed at 8.00p.m
