General Statement of Duties:

Teach Boot Camp Course consistent with the educational curriculum of the program. Facilitates learning activities and makes decisions pertaining to students proceeding in accordance with established policies, standards and practices, under direct guidance of the Program Manager.

Special Assignment:

Seasonal/Part-time position includes up to 40-hour course work per week (9 weeks); no benefits. Potential for hire at the end of contract term with benefits at regular instructor rates.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

•Effectively teach/refresh adults in the fundamentals of healthcare related math and sciencethrough the delivery of Biology, Earth Science, Nutrition, Taxonomy, Cell Structure, Photosynthesis, DNA, Genetics, Atoms, Chemistry, Mechanics, Energy, Electricity, Basic Math Operations, Fractions, Measurements, Data Interpretation, Algebra, and/or the Scientific Method.

•Plan, develop and coordinate lesson plans, assignments and assessments.

•Integrate principals of Master Student & Psychology of Success in classroom instruction, curriculum and overall support of students.

•Modify course content, as necessary, to enhance academic performance and adapt instruction to meet needs of the students.

•Provide periodic and final evaluations on each student.

•Inform management weekly of student progress.

•Work cooperatively with other instructors, case managers and supervisor to mitigate barriers to student success.

•Administer and score standardized tests as needed.

•Tutor students as needed.

•Perform other related duties as necessary the increase the likelihood of student success.

•High level of interpersonal skills.

•Good oral and written communication skills.

•Skills in using Internet, e-mail and current versions of MS Office (Word and PowerPoint)

•Ability to maintain a learning environment aligned with Focus: HOPE standards

•Ability to integrate varied learning tools within curriculum

•Ability to relate to persons with diverse backgrounds

•Ability to document tasks.

•Strong understanding of Science and Math.

Education, Training, and Experience:

•Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Nursing, Biology or related subject matter or equivalent training preferred.

•At least 3 years of experience teaching, facilitating, or training adults.

•Teaching certification is highly desirable

•Experience teaching, coaching, or counseling adults preferred

Supervision Received:

Performs duties under the supervision of the Program Manager, Department Manager.
