Evaluation:

All work is to be completed with pencil. Work completed in pen will not be accepted.

1.)  Assignments - will be worth 30% of the grade and will be given daily. In order to receive full credit, students need to turn in their completed assignment on time and show their work. Unless otherwise stated, daily homework will be due the next day. At times, students may correct other students work. All assignments will be turned in to guarantee an assignment score. Students can and should re-work ALL incorrect problems on a DIFFERENT sheet of paper. Students can re-do any/all assignments. ALL assignments are due the day of the chapter test.

Late Work – students will be given two coupons per term to attach to late assignments in order to receive full credit. All other late work will be worth 50% of assignment value.

All late work is due before the test. Assignments must be corrected by the student.

Absent Work – is the responsibility of the student. Work missed must be made up within one day for each day of absence. If the student is present when an assignment is given, but absent on the due date, the work must be turned in on the first day back in school.

All work is due before the test. Assignments must be corrected by the student.

2.)  Notebook – will be worth 10% of the grade and needs to be scored with each chapter/unit before the test. It includes: notes, examples, vocabulary, warm-ups, and problems in the student textbook. If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to obtain the missed notes from another student or the teacher.

3.)  Quizzes – will be worth 10% of the grade and may be announced or unannounced. If there is an absence, it is a student’s responsibility to make it up before or after school within one day for each day of absence. Quizzes are due before test day. Retakes will not be offered.

4.)  Tests – will be worth 50% of the grade. Tests will be given at the end of most units. If there is an absence it is a student’s responsibility to make it up before or after school within one day for each day of absence. Retakes will not be offered. At the end of the term, the lowest test score will be dropped. ALL work is due the day a student takes the test. After testing, students will teach each other by reworking missed problems in order to gain a better/deeper understanding on both parts but the original score will not change.

Citizenship

Citizenship grades will be determined by classroom behavior, attitude, participation, preparedness, and attendance.

Class Rules:

1.)  Respect teacher, other students, yourself, and property

2.)  Be in assigned seat when the tardy bell rings

3.)  Be prepared with the required materials daily

4.)  No talking when the teacher is talking

5.)  No candy, food, gum, or beverages in the classroom

6.)  Create a positive working environment

Cheating

Cheating includes talking during a test, getting answers for tests from any source, copying an assignment from another student, or providing inaccurate homework scores. A student who cheats will receive a 0 on the assignment, quiz, or test involved and possibly a “U” citizenship grade. Students who provide answers on an assignment or test also fall under this category.

Conferences

Students are invited and encouraged to discuss their progress with me at any time.

Parents are encouraged to look at and discuss the math notes, homework, and assignments with their child. Parents may discuss their student’s progress with me by calling the school for an appointment or sending an email. Email is the best way to elicit a timely response.

I look forward to working with you and your student this year!

The teacher has the right to make changes to accommodate needs at any time.
