If you purchased the electronic textbook through MyMathLab for Calculus I you will still be able to view it through the new MyLabsPlus website for UNT: http://unt.mylabsplus.com. Your username is your UNT email address and your temporary password is math1720. I can get you an access code for MyLabsPlus if you had an access code for MyMathLab for Calculus I.

If you have a print copy of the book, MML is not required.

Course Description: 3 hours. Differentiation and integration of exponential, logarithmic and transcendental functions; integration techniques; indeterminate forms; improper integrals; area and arc length in polar coordinates; infinite series; power series; Taylor’s theorem.

Prerequisite(s): MATH 1710.

Grading Scheme:

Exams – 55%

Homework – 15%

Final Exam - 20%

Recitation Assignments – 10%

Recitation Class: Twice a week you will meet with a teaching assistant (TA) during recitation. Your TA will provide supplemental instruction by answering questions about lecture, homework, and exams. You will turn in your homework during recitations, and exams will occur during recitation. About once a week, you will have a Recitation Assignment in which you will work with classmates on a few problems relevant to current course material.

Your Recitation Instructor:

Homework: You will have written homework problems from the textbook due once a week. You will turn these assignments into your recitation instructor at the beginning of the recitation. Written homework assignments will be posted in Blackboard.

Exams: You will have three in-class exams during the course of the semester. These will occur during recitation.

Tentative Exam Schedule:

Exam 1- Thursday, September 17

Exam 2- Thursday, October 15

Exam 3- Thursday, November 19

Final Exam Date and Time: Tuesday, December 8th at 5:00pm.

Note: Your final exam grade may replace your lowest in-class exam grade if it is higher than your lowest in-class exam grade.

Make-up Policy: There will be no late make-up exams given. If you know ahead of time that you will not be in class for an exam, you may make an appointment with me to take the exam early.

Calculators: TI 83, TI 83 Plus, TI 84, TI 84 Plus or equivalent, their use will be supported in class. Examples of calculators not allowed: TI-Nspires, TI 89’s, TI 92’2 or any other utility with alphanumeric/CAS capabilities ARE NOT permitted. A calculator may not be shared during an exam.

START WORKING NOW: The best way to ensure you pass this course is to work consistently throughout the semester. In mathematics courses topics always build one upon the other, making it very difficult to catch up later if you fall behind. If you need to pass this course because it is your last semester, your financial aid depends on it, your scholarship depends on it, or your parent/guardian has threatened to harm you in some manner, then do yourself a favor and start studying right away. I will not entertain any pleas for extra credit or offers to do additional work at the end of the semester.

Disability Accommodations: The University of North Texas makes reasonable academic accommodation for students with disabilities. Students seeking accommodation must first register with the Office of Disability Accommodation (ODA) to verify their eligibility. If a disability is verified, the ODA will provide you with an accommodation letter to be delivered to faculty to begin a private discussion regarding your specific needs in a course. You may request accommodations at any time, however, ODA notices of accommodation should be provided as early as possible in the semester to avoid any delay in implementation. Note that students must obtain a new letter of accommodation for every semester and must meet with each faculty member prior to implementation in each class. For additional information see the Office of Disability Accommodation website at http://www.unt.edu/oda. You may also contact them by phone at 940.565.4323.
