ExamsThere will be four (4) [Exams], and a comprehensive [Final Exam]. There will be no make-up exams. The requirements for all exams are Scantron 886E’s and TI-83-TI-84+ calculator. Late students will be considered absent and will not be permitted to take the exam. The door will be locked at 7:10am. No electronic devices will be permitted during exams. Calculators only.
QuizzesThere will be 10 quizzes. No electronic devices will be permitted during quizzes. Calculators only.
- Note : The number and frequency of the daily quizzes may vary.
LabsThere will be two (2) lab assignments (L#1 and L#2); each one is due the same lab period, no exceptions. Come to the lab prepared to print your results. Check your on campus access to the computers and printers. THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE FIRST LAB!!!!
HomeworkAssignments have been made online at MATH ZONE. Students are responsible for the completion of all assigned problems on a daily basis. An access code to the Math Zone website accompanies a new textbook. If you purchase a used text access to Math Zone must be purchased separately. Proceed to the website and purchase an access code. The due dates posted on the website are your final access to the practice problems. Check the due dates frequently. In addition, there will be selective textbook problems assigned.
Class Participation: Under Title 5 California Administrative Code, Section 58004: A student may be dropped if no longer participating in the course.
"No longer participating includes but is not limited to excessive absences."
Participation is defined as
- Arrive on time to class and stay the entire class period.
- Complete all assignments. This includes homework as well as class assignments. Come to class prepared with questions on the homework. Assigned homework must be completed before attending class.
- Bring all of the materials necessary for that class. You will be required to print the syllabus, class notes, and other materials from the website.
- Contribute to group activities – including but not limited to work on the website.
- Take all assigned quizzes and exams.
- Contribute to class discussions. Including working cooperatively in your assigned group.
Participation does not relate to the grade you are getting, however, it can affect the final grade that you get.
Note:Students are expected to attend all sessions of the classes in which they are enrolled. Classes will begin promptly on the hour. Attendance will be taken at each meeting. Students with absences equal to five class hours may be dropped from the course. This includes both online and classroom participation. If withdrawing from the course, it is the student’s responsibility to withdraw, please have the courtesy of notifying your instructor. You may report all absences by leaving a message on the instructor’s office voice message system or by notifying the instructor by e-mail prior to the date.
(It is safer to email. The phone system is unreliable.)
Calculators/LabThe TI-83/TI-83+ is required. No Other Calculator Will Be Acceptable. Bring your calculator every day!! Failure to have a calculator for class work or exams will result in a zero. Sharing of calculators is not permitted. No exceptions.
The micro-computer lab is located in Room 611. You may use any open lab at any time during its scheduled hours (see hours posted on Lab 901, as well as , the lab located in the 500 building). Place money on your student account immediately to allow you printing privileges at any lab on campus where students have access. This may be done at the bookstore.
TutorsThere is tutoring available on the website associated with your textbook: MATH ZONE. There are also practice problems and practice exams on the website. Use it!! Campus tutoring is available in Student Services from staff tutors. Check the schedule as soon as possible (800 Building 1st floor).

ACADEMIC HONESTY POLICY
Students are expected to abide by ethical standards in preparing and presenting material which demonstrates their level of knowledge and which is used to determine grades. Such standards are founded on basic concepts of integrity and honesty. These include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
1. Students shall not plagiarize
2. Students shall not cheat
3. Students shall not furnish materials or information in order to enable another student to plagiarize or cheat.
Instructors may deal with academic dishonesty in one or more of the following ways:
1. Assign an appropriate academic penalty such as an oral reprimand or point reduction.
2. Assign an “F” on all or part of a particular paper, project, or exam.
3. Report to the appropriate administrators, with notification of same to the student(s), for disciplinary action by the College. Such a report will be accompanied by supporting evidence and documentation.
Repeated violations may result in students receiving an “F” in the course, suspension or dismissal from the College.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATEMENT
Take note of the safety features in and around the classroom. Also, please study the posted evacuation routes. The most direct route of exit may not be the safest. Running out of the building during earthquakes may be dangerous. During strong earthquakes, it is recommended to duck, cover, and hold until the quaking stops. Follow the guidance of your instructor. Your cooperation during emergencies can minimize the possibility of injury to yourself and others.

STANDARDS OF STUDENT CONDUCT ANDDISCIPLINE POLICY
The standards of student conduct and disciplinary action for violationof Board Policy 5500 were approved by the NOCCCDBoard on January 28, 2003, and were drawn in compliance withSections 66300, 76030, 76033, 76034, 76036 of the StateEducation Code. WAIT TIME FOR LATE INSTRUCTORS
If, due to unforeseen emergencies, the instructor does not arrive at the scheduled start time for class, students are to wait for fifteen minutes (unless otherwise notified by the division). If they do not receive notification to wait for their instructor to arrive, after 15 minutes the students may leave with no penalty for absence or assigned work due for that class meeting.
