TROY UNIVERSITY SCOB MISSION STATEMENT

Description

This course addresses the theory, practice and legal requirements in managing employee health, safety, and cultural diversity in organizational settings.

Objectives

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  1. Apply essential principles of managing safety and health in a modern workplace.
  2. List and describe the major provisions of OSHA.
  3. Explore recruitment and mentorship strategies to foster a demographically diverse workforce in a modern organization.
  4. List and describe the major provisions of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, as amended.

Purpose

To provide basic knowledge of safety, health, and diversity in the workplace, in preparation for entry-level management positions. BABA/BSBA Management major specified elective (General Management or Human Resource Management concentration).

Required Activity

This course must contain a student engagement activity with the community that relates to course content. The activity may include guest speakers, site visits, projects for the community/industry, etc…
