COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed for students intending to teach or coach volleyball. Emphasis is on the technical aspects of fundamental skills, evaluation and performance, selection of teaching strategies and organization and implementation of the volleyball program.

PREREQUISITE(S): None

COURSE GOALS:

  1. Prepare the student to organize and implement a volleyball program.
  2. To evaluate personnel.
  3. To analyze players' skills and select teaching/coaching strategies.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify the mechanics essential for effective performance of the fundamental skills for volleyball.
  2. Define and perform selected individual volleyball technical and tactical skills
  3. Demonstrate the strategies involved in volleyball coaching.
  4. Demonstrate planning practices and pre-game sessions.
  5. Demonstrate the drills and teaching methods used in coaching volleyball
