FAMILY PERSPECTIVES: Jesus caused Mary and Joseph great anxiety when he went missing at the age of twelve. Upon finding Him, His mother said, “Son, why have You done this to us?” What mother of a teen has not found herself in a similar situation asking this same question!? And, upon hearing the Son’s answer found like Mary and Joseph, “they did not understand what He said to them.” Anxiety is normal in families – especially between parents and teens. Teens need protective parents but also perceptive ones who will help them discover and follow God’s path in their life in order to grow “in wisdom and age and favor.”

Dear God, I think about you sometimes, even when I’m not praying. Love, Elliott

A PRAYER FOR THE NEW YEAR: O sacred and adorable Trinity, hear our prayers on behalf of our holy Father the Pope, our Bishops, our clergy, and for all that are in authority over us. Bless, we beseech Thee, during the coming year, the whole Catholic Church; convert heretics and unbelievers; soften the hearts of sinners so that they may return to Thy friendship; give prosperity to our country and peace among the nations of the world; pour down Thy blessings upon our friends, relatives, and acquaintances, and upon our enemies, if we have any; assist the poor and the sick; have pity on the souls of those whom this year has taken from us; and do Thou be merciful to those who during the coming year will be summoned before Thy judgment seat. May all our actions be preceded by Thy inspirations and carried on by Thy assistance, so that all our prayers and works, having been begun in Thee, may likewise be ended through Thee. Amen.

WELCOME AND THANKS! We are extremely grateful for all who have chosen to join us in worship during this Holy Season. Your presence is a blessing and an honor. Please know that you are always welcome here. But even if you are able to be with us only occasionally, know that in the meantime we will hold you in our hearts and in our prayers, and we will keep a pew warm for you! If you are in need of any information regarding the sacraments, an annulment or returning to the Church please contact Father Veigas or Deacon Bruce at the Parish Office 322-5622.

NEW YEARS MASSES: End 2012 and begin 2013 with the Perfect Prayer! Masses will be celebrated on Monday evening, December 31, at 5:00 PM, and on Tuesday, January 1, at 10:00 AM. January 1st, the Octave Day of Christmas and the Feast of Mary, the Mother of God, is still considered a holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church.

THE PARISH OFFICE: will be closed Monday to Wednesday so the staff can enjoy this Holy Season with their families. The voice mail will be checked regularly so please leave a message if you are in need of any type of assistance.

CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS FOR 2012: If you would like a statement of the contributions you made in 2012, please call or email the parish office during regular hours and leave your name and address. Statements will be mailed out on a weekly basis.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU: to the Environment Ministry and the extra volunteers who helped decorate our church. It is just beautiful and brings joy and happiness to all our parishioners and visitors! We are blessed to have such dedicated people here at Saint Agnes. Again THANK YOU and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
