Ditcher Dug ditches for moats and foundations

Cooper Made or repaired casks and barrels

Apothecary Made medicine from herbs and plants.

Tanner Worked with leather

Peasant Worked on the lord’s land in order to live there.

Smith Worked with metal

Clothier Made clothes for the nobles and required having

knowledge of fine and expensive materials.

Furrier Made and repaired fur coats

Ewerer Brought and heated water for the nobles.

Herald Messenger and made announcements on behalf of the king or nobles. Would shout out the news in town square.

Marshal Officer in charge of a household’s horses, carts, wagons, and transporting goods.

Minstrel Singer and played music

Porter Responsible for the main castle entrance and for the guard rooms. Made sure no-one left or entered the castle without permission.

Reeve Supervised all the work on a lord’s property. The reeve made sure everyone began work on time.

Scullion Lowest of the kitchen workers

Scribe Were skilled in reading and writing.

Chamberlain Deals with money and oversees the king’s budget.

Atilliator Made all the crossbows

Monk Religious man who also attended the sick

Armorer Made armor to fit its wearer.

Astrologer Studied the stars but was considered a mystical person.
