ST. MARY’S HOME ANNOUNCES MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER

Fundraising Professional to Help Complete $3 Million Capital Campaign

NORFOLK, Va. – Feb. 23, 2012 – Allison Bough, CFRE, has become the major gifts officer, a new position, at St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children. Bough is helping to complete a $3 million campaign to build an adult home at St. Mary’s and also is working with individuals who want to support the children and young adults of St. Mary’s in a significant way.

Bough came to St. Mary’s Home in September 2010 as the capital campaign coordinator and assumed her new role in January 2012. She has more than 18 years of fundraising experience, including as a capital campaign fundraising consultant with The Kellogg Organization and director of development at two human services agencies.

Bough holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hollins University in Roanoke, Va., and a master’s degree in business administration from Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. She earned the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential in 2000 and is working toward the Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE) credential, a recognition earned by fewer than 200 fundraising professionals worldwide.

Children and young adults from across Virginia who have severe intellectual and physical disabilities live, play go to school and receive comprehensive care at the private, nonprofit St. Mary’s Home, a national leader in pediatric long-term care. St. Mary’s also offers short-term residential care. Children come to St. Mary’s as a result of birth disorders, traumatic accidents, illness and injuries from abuse.The Albero House at St. Mary’s Home, which will provide care for adults older than 21, is expected to open in late 2012.
