Time to start getting ready for our spring festival! We will be playing for a festival at AmericanCanyonHigh schooland then going to the park. The awards ceremony is inside the park at the end of the day. Groups are rated and then ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on within their category and trophies are awarded to the groups. We hope to bring back some decoration for our room.

We will need to leave Folsom early. The intermediate plays at 10:30 and the advanced plays at 10:55. We will load the bus at the FMS parking lot at 7:15 AM. Folsom and Sutter are travelingtogether. We will be back about 10:00PM. Performances are open to the public, parents are welcome. This is often the best performance of the year!

The trip will cost $76 per student. This includes the bus, festival and ticket to the park. If you have season tickets you do not need to buy the ticket and the cost will be $47. Students will need food and money for food. I recommend students bring some food to eat after we perform and before we go into the park. The food in the park is so expensive I don’t want to buy any more than necessary.

Students will be required to wear their music T-shirts for the concert and in the park. This is a big help to the chaperones. If you do not have one I have a few loaners or you may need to borrow one from a student who is not attending. Students may wear shorts in the park but not swim suits. School dress code still applies. This trip is optional. Students are not required to go. Because of the lead time required to have checks written and make the billing dates I will need payments very early. I will need payments by Feb. 24 You may also order extra family tickets for $29 each but I will need to order them at the same time as the rest of the orchestra tickets.Checks should be made out to the school (FMS or SMS). I’m sorry but I may not be able to refund payments if you change your mind. I will need to pay the bill immediately and refunds are not always available.

I also have chaperone openings. Chaperones will need to be fingerprinted and tested for TB. Parents who have already been cleared by the district are good for 3 years before they need to be retested but you do need to fill out a new application to update your information. I will need approximately 12 chaperones on the buses. We also need 3 or 4 parents who can drive the cellos and basses. (They can be chaperones or not.) You will need to keep the instruments in your car the whole day and meet us at school when the buses return. We need either trucks with shells or large SUV/Van where the basses can lay down flat. If we put 3 or 4 in each vehicle they will not move around. We don’t want any broken instruments. Chaperones do not need to buy a ticket, but you do need to be with us all day.Please email me if you wish to chaperone.

All ticket orders are due no later than Feb. 24. I will be unable to order additional tickets after that time. If you need last minute tickets please contact me because I sometimes have extras or can buy them at a discount when we arrive at the park.
