March 31st will be the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Hyde Park at 1pm. Children of all ages are invited to attend and join in on the fun.

Community Garage Sale Days will be held on Saturday, May 19th. There is NO FEE and registration forms are available on line at under the document library or at the Village Clerks Office. Applications will need to be returned to the village office by Friday, May 11th, so the maps can be distributed before the sale.

As a reminder, the Village provides Village residents assistance with sidewalk replacement. The Village provides the labor, free of charge while, the homeowner pays for the material costs. The Village requires a 50% down payment when the homeowner signs the contract for work, and the balance is due when the work is complete. The sidewalk replacement plan is limited to 3 households per year. Please contact the Village Office to schedule an estimate 607-847-6389.

Compost and brush are only picked up on Monday’s, unless Monday is a holiday. Please refrain from putting brush and compost on the curb until the night preceding pick up. Cinderblocks, animal waste or byproducts, big tree trunks, and huge limbs will not be picked up as they are not considered brush or compost. If you are contracting out the removal of a tree, all trunks and limbs should be removed by the contractor, the homeowner is responsible for making arrangements to have them removed from the property. If you are leaving brush and compost by the road for the Village Department of Public Works to collect and dispose of, please leave the brush and compost as close to the road as possible. Brush and Compost should be separated. Thank you!

LOCAL LAWS- withspring here and summer just around the corner, please remember these local laws.

Noise Ordinance - No person with the intent to cause public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof shall cause, suffer, allow or permit to be made unreasonable noise. For the purpose of this law, unreasonable noise is any disturbing, excessive or offensive sound that disturbs a reasonable person of normal sensitivities.

The following acts among others by any person are declared to be prima facie; evidence of a violation of this law. This enumeration shall not be deemed Exclusive.

  1. Any unnecessary noise from any sources which are of such character, intensity and duration as to be detrimental to the life or health of any individual or contrary to public welfare especially between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the following day.
  1. Noise from a dog or other pet/animal that is continuously disturbing the comfort and repose of any person in the vicinity and exceeds fifteen (15) minutes.
  1. The use of any automobile, motorcycle or vehicle so out of repair or so loaded or operated in such a manner as to create loud and unnecessary noise. The making of improper noise or disturbance or operating an automobile or motorcycle in such a manner as to cause excessive squealing or other excessive noise of the tires.
  1. Noise from a burglar alarm, or other alarm system of any building, motor vehicle or boat which is continuous and exceeds fifteen (15) minutes.

Poop Scoop Law– Any person who is the owner, keeper, harborer, person in charge of or person walking a dog shall immediately pick up any feces expelled by such dog on any property, the owner of which has not given permission therefore, and deposit them in a container lawfully used for the disposal of refuse. In no event shall any feces be deposited in sewers or drains, whether storm or sanitary.

Leash Law - It shall be unlawful for any person to allow any domesticated or tamed animal, e.g., dogs, cats, cows, horses or any "tamed" wild animal, in any place in the village except on the property of the owner, harborer or on the premises of another person with consent of such person, unless the animal is restricted by a leash or lead rope not longer than four (4) feet or is under the direct control of a person competent and able to manage and control such animal.

Skateboards, roller skates and scooters No person shall utilize, use and/or ride upon a skateboard, roller skates, roller blades, Go-peds, push scooters, or similar device, on the public ways, sidewalks, and public parking lots within the Village of New Berlin with the exception of places so designated by the Village Board of Trustees. The parents or legal guardians of all minors shall be responsible for violations by minors.
