And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25
As we move into this new year, one of my prayers is for more of us at Christ Church to participate in small groups. We will be starting a new sermon series this coming Sunday called “Acts of God” and we are offering small groups to open up conversation and go deeper into this series. I am praying that we will go deeper into our faith as we look at situations that have the potential to enter our lives and rock our world. I am passionate about small groups because I know how much transformation has happened in my life by being a part of them. In turn, I want to see others participate and benefit from them as well. We have groups meeting at 10:30 am on Sundays, 11 am Wednesdays, 6 pm Wednesdays (2 groups) and 9:30 am Fridays. I really want to encourage anyone and everyone who has not already signed up to do so if your schedule allows. For those who are unable to join one of these groups, I want to share with you that this video series is available on RightNow Media. RightNow Media is an online resource available to all of us – they refer to it as the “Netflix of Bible Studies”. You can view these videos on your smart phone, smart TV, Roku, Apple TV, computer or tablet. If you want to get signed up, contact the church office and give us your email address and you can have access to this great resource. If you can’t join a group we offer, perhaps you know someone else in the church or a friend or family member you would like to invite to your home and watch and discuss the video together. If you are interested but none of these options work for you, please let me know and we can see what we can work out. And if not this session, I hope for you to make a plan to join a group as the year progresses.
We will also be offering a marriage series called, “You & Me forever”. This is another great resource from RightNow Media. All the classes start next week – you can find a sign-up sheet on the Connection Table in the south entryway. I hope you will join in!
I would also like to share that there is a small table on the right side of the sanctuary behind the altar rail. On January 1st I invited those in the service to write down something that they wanted to see God do in 2017; to lift up a prayer, believing that nothing is impossible for God. The prayers written down that day are in the jar and next to the jar you will find paper and a pen. I would like to invite you to add to the jar any prayers you may have. The jar will be there to remind of us what we are praying for and at the end of the year we will see all the ways God has been at work.
