3.  Label the following geographic features:

GREAT LAKES ST. LAWRENCE RIVER South Pass

4.  Use the maps on pp. 370-371, 372 and the map at the front of the room to draw in the major routes to the west. Follow rivers and geographic features where appropriate. Use a different color for each trail, and label them in a color-coded key in the lower right.

Oregon Trail – Independence through the South Pass to Oregon City

California Trail – Independence through the South Pass to Sacramento

Mormon Trail – Nauvoo through the South Pass to Salt Lake City

Santa Fe Trail – St. Louis to Santa Fe

5.  Place a compass rose in the lower left corner. Label the 4 main directions.

6.  Put your heading on your map in the upper right corner.
