Manuscript submission

Submission of a manuscript to Comparative Exercise Physiology implies that the work described has not been published before (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review or thesis); that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities at the institution where the work was carried out.

The author warrants that his/her contribution is original and that he/she has full power to make this grant. The author signs for and accepts responsibility for releasing this material on behalf of any and all co-authors. The author affirms that the article contains no unfounded or unlawful statements and does not violate the rights of others. If copyrighted works are included, the author bears responsibility to obtain written permission from the copyright owners and to appropriately credit the sources.

The use of general descriptive names, trade names, trademarks, etc. in the publication, even if not specifically identified, does not imply that these names are not protected by the relevant laws and regulations.

Copyright Transfer Agreement

The Copyright Transfer Agreement must be signed and returned to the publisher of Comparative Exercise Physiology before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. Transfer of copyright to Wageningen Academic Publishers becomes effective if and when the article is accepted for publication. If the submitted manuscript is not accepted by the Journal, all rights will be returned to the authors of the work.

All articles published in Comparative Exercise Physiology are protected by copyright, which covers the exclusive and unlimited rights to reproduce and distribute the article in any form of reproduction (printing, electronic media or any other form), as well as the translation rights for all languages and countries, for the full term (including extensions and renewals). For U.S. authors the copyright is transferred to the extent transferable. No material published in Comparative Exercise Physiology may be reproduced photographically or stored on microfilm, in electronic databases, video disks, etc., without first obtaining written permission from the publisher.

Your Choice for Open Access

Authors whose manuscripts have been accepted for publication have the option to pay a one-off fee of 1800 euro (»USD 2500) to publish their article as ‘open access’ under the Creative Commons CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 Licence (click the link to see the specific licence conditions that will protect your work). The article will be freely available at the journal content website. Choosing this option also allows authors to post the publishers PDF-version of their article in an institutional or subject repository immediately upon publication. Please tick this option on your signed CTA if you want to publish your article as ‘Open Access’. If you need another open access licence for your manuscript, please contact Wageningen Academic Publishers.

Author’s rights

The author may send or transmit individual copies of the final published version of his/her manuscript in any format, including the PDF, to colleagues upon their specific request provided no fee is charged, and further-provided that there is no systematic distribution of the manuscript, e.g. posting on a listserve, website or automated delivery. However posting the article on a secure network, not accessible to the public, is permitted.

For other purposes, e.g. publication on his/her own website, the author must use an author-created version of his/her article. He/she may not use the publisher's PDF version, with the exception if his/her manuscript is published under ‘Your Choice for Open Access’. Furthermore, the author may only post his/her version provided acknowledgement is given to the original source of publication and a link is inserted to the published article on the Comparative Exercise Physiology website (DOI at the Metapress website). The link must be accompanied by the following text: 'The original publication is available at <insert website link here>’.

The author(s) retain all proprietary rights, other than copyright, such as patent and trademark rights to any process or procedure described in the article. The author(s) have the right to photocopy the article for their own personal use.

An author has the right to use (part of) his/her article in subsequent publications of the authors own works provided that written permission is obtained from the publisher and that proper acknowledgement is made to the original source of publication and the publisher. Any other use or reproduction in a collective work requires a fee and permission from the publisher.

The right to grant or refuse permission to third parties to republish part of the article or translations thereof. However, the publisher except at the direction of the contributor(s) will not refuse such permission.

Reprints

Authors are given the option of purchasing reprints of their article. If you are interested, please add the number of reprints (minimum order is 100 copies) on the signed CTA. The costs for reprints are 5 euro per copy and include postage.
