2018 RIDER SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Application due 2 weeks before Session begins
Center for Adaptive Riding is an IRS designated 501c3 charitable organization, and we strive to make this important recreational opportunity available to as many students as possible. The staff, Board of Directors and community of supporters work hard to ensure the availability of funds to keep tuition costs as affordable as possible.
Did you know that the cost of an average lesson is estimated to be about $135? To make our services available to riders, the Center for Adaptive Riding only charges $45 per lesson. For every $1 that we charge for lessons and programs Center for Adaptive Riding raises an additional $3 through fundraising efforts, individual donations and foundation grants. However, we recognize that some riders may not be able to participate due to financial constraints, so Center for Adaptive Riding has made scholarship funds available.
Because these funds are limited, we ask that you make every effort to contribute your share of the rider fee so there will be enough funds available to all riders that really need assistance. These funds will be distributed as equitably as possible, on the basis of need, and awards are dependent upon the number of requests and the amount of funds available.
To apply:
- The information on the attached form must be completed in its entirety.
- Completed Rider Application with all release forms. *release forms and financial documentation are only required for the first application of the year*
- $25 deposit for the Session
- Applications must include a copy of the first page of your most recent IRS income tax return, W2 or a copy of an SSI or other government assistance check.
- We strongly encourage you to participate in our Pay It Forward policy. See description on following pages.
- Submit to:
Center for Adaptive Riding
59 Damonte Ranch Pkwy. B102
Reno, NV. 89521
All applications will be kept in the strictest confidence, and will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee before a final determination is made.
Be advised that scholarships will range between 25% and 75% of lesson costs, based on number of applicants, financial need of applicant, and availability of funds. Additionally, if a student is absent for more than 3 lessons per Session, he/she will forfeit scholarship for the following session.
Scholarship recipients will be notified via email regarding the determination of application no later than 1 week prior to the beginning of session.
If you have any questions or concerns, email or call 775-329-1839
PAY IT FORWARD
POLICY
Did you know for every $1 that we charge for lessons and programs, we raise $3 to help us cover our costs! To help keep our costs low, over 4,000 volunteer hours were given last year alone! There are many ways you can help continue to keep our costs down, our programs available for our special students, and our horses happy and healthy! We ask that you take a few hours each session to help us by Paying it Forward: giving your time to Center for Adaptive Riding.
