Mantis mobilizes at Orphan Gold Mine property adjacent to Kodiak discovery

TORONTO, Oct. 30 /CNW/ - Mantis Mineral Corp ('Mantis'--CNQ 'MINE') is

pleased to announce mobilization of line cutting crews to our Orphan ('Dik

Dik) Gold Mine Property. The focus will be the former Orphan mine site as well

as the newly discovered Foisey Occurrence ('Foisey') reported July 16, 2007.

Foisey with a strike length of 750-meters of mineralization on surface

reported historic grab samples of vein material from this occurrence assaying

up to 0.62 ounces gold per ton (21.3 grams per tonne), while channel samples

ranged from 0.61 to 2.04 grams per tonne over widths of 3.0 to 5.8-meters. The

system strikes at azimuth 135 to 160-degrees, similar to the "main vein" of

the Orphan Mine, located 2,200-meters to the southeast. The system remains

open at both ends. With our recent discovery of Foisey to the northwest within

our claim fabric, a 2200-meter corridor potentially linking the two systems

remains to be explored.

Following the completion of the grid, an I.P. ground survey will be

conducted. Both process are expected to be completed in the coming weeks and

Mantis is planning a 6,000-meter diamond drill program to begin prior to

year-end.

Robin Ross commented "We are extremely pleased to be mobilizing for the

initial ground work that will lead to an important drill program to test our

targets. We believe that Orphan - a past producing property, and situated

adjacent to Kodiak's recent discovery, has company making potential. This is

the first step in unlocking that potential."

As reported June 20, 2006, during its operating period between 1934 to

1935 a total of 2,460 ounces of gold and 1,558 ounces of silver were extracted

from 3,525 tons of ore mined, resulting in grade averages of 0.70 ounces per

ton gold and 0.44 ounces per ton silver.

Geologically, the former Orphan Gold Mine is situated in the

Onaman-Tashota greenstone belt of the Wabigooon subprovince of the Archean

superior province. Traditionally this belt was referred to as the

Beardmore-Geraldton greenstone belt/gold camp.

Gold production from this belt has exceeded 4.1-million ounces from

19-mines. The Orphan Gold Mine also known as the Dik Dik Mine is included as

one of the past producers of this belt. Mining operations were suspended due

to the economics of the time. The mine was developed on two levels, the

150-level and 250-level, which were accessed by a 262-foot (80-meter) deep

shaft. Lateral workings of cross-cuts and drifts totalled 663-feet

(202-meters).
