For those of you who are new to Moodle, we are offering 4 preliminary master classes to set your foot on the Moodle Master Ladder! These courses will be interspersed with more advanced sessions for the more experienced Moodler. Secondment into Undergraduate Training

The Practice Placement Team are now accepting applications for Secondment into Undergraduate Training for the academic year 15-16.

The application form can be found on the Faculty Website under ‘Secondments’ or you can contact a member of the Practice Placement Team for a copy.

If you are interested in applying for secondment, please could you fill in the application form and send back to Amy Lester before 12pm on Wednesday 13th May 2015.

Please be aware that you will only be eligible for secondment if you meet the following criteria:

Have worked within HEFT for a minimum 1 year

Are currently in a permanent post

Have a conditional offer of a University place

Have the support of your line manager to undertake secondment

Interviews will be taking place on Thursday 28th May and Friday 29th May only.

  • Examination of the Newborn Degree Module

Applications are now being taken for this degree module course which begins in May. It is accredited with 30 level 6 credits, a level 7 option, and is aimed at clinical midwives and neonatal nurses. The module comprises 8 taught days, two self-directed days, plus a day for a viva voce (11 in all). New course begins in May, finishing in September 2015.

  • MEDICINES STEP UP MODULE

This bespoke module acts as a refresher and update in to the current practices of Medicines Management. It includes a face to face aspect and a MOODLE aspect. The subjects covered are Accountability, anaphylaxis, diabetes, oxygen therapy, drug calculations and pharmacy including Controlled drugs etc.

  • CoSHH Update

A 2 hour course to assist individuals in understanding their responsibilities in relation to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (CoSHH) The course includes completion of CoSHH risk assessment forms.

  • Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Workshop

A 2 hour course to assist individuals in understanding their responsibilities in relation to the Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Regulations. The course includes workstation assessments and completion of DSE self assessment forms.

  • Safety Champions Training Workshop

A 2 hour course designed to assist Safety Champions to be able to understand & fulfil their role. The course aims to provide basic Health & Safety knowledge of risk assessments and legal requirements.

  • Clinical Audit - Bite Size Training

Aim: Come along to a bite-size session with the Clinical Audit and Effectiveness team being held on the following dates:

The course is for Nurses, Midwives, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists & Non-Medical Supplementary Prescribing for Radiographers

Non-medical prescribing is a demanding and complex course with 26 days of attendance over six months (course dates see website).

The programme provides patients with quicker access to medicines together with improved access to services

The programme is offered at Degree (level 6) or Masters (level 7) and is open to registered nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, radiographers and podiatrists

Mental Capacity Act

VITAL

For Adult Nurses 2014 is open for every Registered Adult Nurse working in the hospital or satellite settings (with the exception of Community) across the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) to complete.

Topics include Falls, Dementia and Confusion (which is a new topic) Patient Observations, MEWS and SBAR.
