Part 1: Will you turn into your parents?

Pick and choose certain traits from your parents and/or guardians that you would like to become and traits from your parents/guardians that you would like to reject.

Next you will

  1. Describe your parents/guardians.
  2. For each person that you have chosen, tell me what characteristics you admire about this person and what characteristics you despise.
  3. Positive role models are key to teenagers developing into responsible and productive adults. What characteristics do you want to take from your parents/guardians to become a role model for your own children or for the community at large?
  4. What specific steps can you take to embrace these characteristics?

Part 2: What are your prerequisites for marriage?

1. Read the articles and respond to the following question: What are your prerequisites for marriage?

  • How old should you be to marry?
  • What characteristics must he/she or you possess to be “marriable”?
  • Other topics to think about finances, career, having children, dreams, goals.
  • State any prerequisites for marriage that you have heard or read in the articles that you disagree with.

2. You should have a different paragraph for each prerequisite. Also include an introduction and conclusion.

3. You must include at least two paraphrases or direct quotes from each article in your response.

4. You must give examples and your reasons for each prerequisite. For example don’t just say, “she has to be hot for me to marry her.” You need to explain why that is important to you, how that characteristic will benefit your marriage, and what would happen if you married her and she did not posses that characteristic.

  • Why you think the characteristic is important
  • How the characteristic will benefit you
  • What would happen if you married her/him w/o that characteristic
  • Stories/Examples of people/movies/tv/actors that do or don’t posses the characteristic and the consequences

Part 3: Please Critique this class

  1. Are their any topics that we did not cover that should be added next year?
  2. What did you learn about yourself from this class? Has your view of any issues that we discussed changed?
