Making A Quiz Book Report

(FEBRUARY)

Step One – You should select your fiction novel no later than ______. Remember, your book needs to be within your reading range and should be challenging enough to last you the majority of the month.

Which book did you pick? Title: ______Author: ______

Step Two – Plan a reading schedule for your novel. Make sure you give yourself enough time to complete the project, not just the reading. Consider your timing last month when planning your reading for this month. How many pages should you read each week to stay on track? ______

Step Three – Think about the important parts of your story and how you could make a quiz.

Please feel free to use as much creativity as you’d like when creating this project, but remember, this is the student’sproject. If you need help getting supplies, please let me know as early as possible.

Here is what your quiz should include:

  • Quiz:

Your quiz should include a title. There should be at least 10 questions. There should be at least 2 questions of each type. An answer key will need to also be included. Both your quiz and answer key will need to be typed and formatted in quiz form.We will show you how to do this during the month. The elements required below should be included in your quiz.

  • Title and quiz directions:

The title should include the Title of the book, the author’s name and your name. Your title should be at the top of your quiz.

Below your title should be the directions for taking the quiz. Think about quizzes you have taken to help you with this.

  • Question types:

There are four different question types. For each type of question there should be at least 2 questions. Question types are: multiple choice, fill-in the blank, short answer and text dependentquestions that require page citations.

  • multiple choice –must include four possible answers where 1,2,3 or all choices could be correct
  • fill-in the blank – write a sentence and put a blank(s) where an important word(s) would go
  • short answer – the question will need to be answered using at least 2-3 sentences
  • text dependent–includes a pagenumber(s) where the answer can be found
  • Brief Description of why you chose the questions:

On a separate piece of paper include a paragraph that explains the significance of the questions you included. Such as: it was a main event that helped to set the stage for the rest of the story or this was a vocabulary word that was necessary to understand, etc.

  • Answer Key:

Each question should be included on the answer key with the correct answer immediately following it. The answers must be written in complete sentences that restate the question and provide the answer to the question. The answers should also include the page number where they are found in the book.

Step Four - You will present your quiz to your classmates the day it is due. They will not be doing it.
