How to eliminate the FoUSB Drivers from a Windows XP or 2000 Machine
Make all the drivers visible (even the ones you are not using right now):
- From the desktop, right click on “My Computer”
- Select “Properties”
- Click on the “Advanced” tab
- Click on “Environment Variables”
- In the top section, User Variables for XXXX, click on <New>
- Enter the Variable Name as “DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES”
- Enter the Variable Value as “1”
- Click <OK> (exits the New User Variable Window)
- Click <OK> (exits the Environment Variables Window)
- Click <OK> (exits System Properties Window)
If on a Windows XP machine, skip to step 13.
For Windows 2000 machines:
- Log off this machine (Start->Log Off XXXX)
- Lon onto this machine
Un-install our driver from the OS:
- From the desktop, right click on “My Computer”
- Select “Properties”
- Select the “Hardware” tab
- Click on “Device Manger”
- From the top pull down menus, select “View->Show hidden devices”
- Surf down the list until you get to “Universal Serial Bus controllers”
- Click on the “+” sign to expand it.
- Right click on our drivers (FoUSB from Renesas or Mitsubishi) and select Uninstall
- Close the Device Manager Window
- Close the System Properties Window
Remove the drivers from the hard drive:
- Open Windows Explorer (Right click on Start and select Explore)
- Windows 2000: Surf to the “C:\WINNT\System32\drivers” subdirectory
Windows XP: Surf to the “C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers” subdirectory - Delete “usbmon.sys”
- Windows 2000: Surf to the “C:\WINNT\inf\” subdirectory
Windows XP: Surf to the “C:\WINDOWS\inf” subdirectory - Right click on the inf subdirectory and select search
- In the containing text box enter: “pid_abcd” and click on <Search now
- When a file shows up on the right hand side, right down the files name (mine was oem20.inf)
- Right click on this file (in the search window) and click delete
- Close the search window
- In the \inf subdirectory, find the file with the same name but “.pnf” for a suffix. (In my computer this was oem20.pnf). Delete this file.
- Close Windows Explorer
