DETAILED WORK ACHIEVEMENTS OF I. CHOI AT ADB

Mar.1986-Mar.1988 YOUNG PROFESSIONAL– two years

Transferred to the various divisions/departments in ADB, starting from the Private

SectorDivisionand the Industry and Mineral Division of IDBD (Projects Department),

BPMSD and finally to Programs Department(PE2).

Contributed to the establishment of the Guidelines for Private Sector Operation and the

ADB’s 1988 budget formulation at BPMSD and processed several private and public

sector projects during the circulation period, inter alia, Oil and Gas Development

Project/PAK,Investment Climate Studies/KOR and MAL (Investments Officer) and

Country Strategy Study/ FIJI (Programs Officer) are prime.

Mar.1988-Jan.1991 TREASURY OFFICER, INVESTMENTS DIVISION

Managed the ADB’s liquidity investment portfolio in the transaction settlement area(Back-office) and accomplished the ADB’s membership participation in the international security clearance system.

Jan.1991-May 1994 TREASURY OFFICER, FINANCIAL POLICY DIVISION

Contributed tothe review, establishment and update of the ADB’s major financial policies, including the development of automated variable lending rate calculation system, calculation of the ADB’s semi-annual variable lending rates, the review/update of the ADB’s income and borrowing policies, and the exchange rate risk pooling system.

May 1994-Apr.1995 HEAD, TRAVEL & STAFF SERVICES SECTION

Conducted the review of the ADB’s travel policies and procedures, in-house travel services contracts, approved hotel policies and computerization of travel data processing system and recommended the measures to improve the ADB’s business travel-related policies with a view to cost-savings.

Apr.1995-Dec.1996 HEAD, PROCUREMENT & SHIPPING SECTION

Contributed to the good implementation of the ADB’s Procurement Guidelines with a view to enhancing the effectiveness and the efficiency of the ADB operation,recommending cost-saving measures to the ADB Management.

July1997–Dec.1997 GENERAL MANAGER, INTERNATIONALTREASURYCENTER,

GYONGNAM MERCHANT BANKING CORP (GMBC),SEOUL

Managed funding and the investment portfolio of the Company, including foreign

currency dealingand other treasury operations.

Dec.1997-May 1999 BENEFITS OFFICER, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS, BPMSD

Conducted the review of the ADB’s staff compensation and benefits policy and recommended the measures to rationalize the various staff benefits and compensation for cost-savings through eliminating unnecessary and problematic grey areasin the ADB’s staff benefits system.

May 1999-May 2000 SENIOR CONTROL OFFICER, DISBURSEMENT DIVISION

Conducted the ADB’sloan disbursement operations for Vietnam,India and Nepal, and recommended some measures to improve the ADB’s Loan Disbursement Handbook.Also,provided lectures to the government staff of Vietnam via the ADB mission.

May 2000-July 2004 SENIOR FINANCIAL SPECIALIST, TRANSPORT DIVISION

Processed (or contributed to the processing of) the transport sector projects of ADB for

China (PRC) and two program loansfor Tajikistan, and administered many PRC loans via ADB missions. Reviewed and recommended the measures to improve the ADB’s project financial analysis guidelines, financial management guidelines and various project processing/administration guidelines. Participated as a procurement committee member and a consultant selection committee member with COSO, evaluated the bids, and selected the consultants for the various infrastructure projects of ADB.

Jan 2009-Present Compensation and Benefits Specialist, BPMSD

Design and Implement the ADB’s Staff Benefits Policy for ADB’s HQ and 27 Field Offices

Overall, during nineteen (19) years of my services at ADB I had gone through the ADB’s seven(7) prominentDepartments and ten (10) Divisions under them. Using my extensive working knowledge and institutional memories of the ADB operations, which Iearned/accumulated from these variousdepartments, Inowwish, more than ever, to contribute and devote myselfto the successful implementation of the visions and the mission of ADBto help ADB’s developing member countries reduce poverty and improve the quality of life of their people, to the most of my capacity.
