Athene Communications is a PR and communications consultancy, delivering strategic solutions in four key areas of work: PR, internal communication, PR for educational institutions, and community and stakeholder engagement.
Our Community Engagement team works with a range of clients across a range of industries, including commercial and residential property development, energy and infrastructure.
Our clients include The University of Cambridge, Howard Group, Peterborough City Council, Hallam Land, Hopkins Homes, Larkfleet Homes, Scottish Power Renewables, and Royal HasknoningDHV. Current projects include a major offshore wind farm, a 2,000 home urban extension and a £900m scientific and research redevelopment scheme.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an account manager to take responsibility for leading on key stakeholder and public consultation, mostly for commercial, residential and urban regeneration projects, within our busy and thriving Community Engagement team. This includes public relations, political analysis and the preparation of content for social media, public exhibitions, and websites.
You will be a bright, proactive and astute professional looking for the next challenge in your communications career.
Ideally you’ll already have around 3-5 years’ project management or in-house communications and PR experience, and will be comfortable with having strategic conversations with clients at a senior level. You will need to be highly organised with the ability to plan projects over several months, and to be willing to getto grips with some of the nitty-gritty aspects of the roleIdeally, you’d have an understanding of the UK planning sector – or have a willingness to learn!
What we’ll expect you to do
As account manager, you’ll spend your time:
· Project managing your own key accounts, building client relationships and developing new business opportunities
· Organising and delivering high-quality stakeholder engagement and PR campaigns on time and on budget
· Writing and producing engaging, accurate and accessible materials, including liaising with design and print agencies, and managing the approval process
· Planning, managing and delivering stakeholder events
· Monitoring and analysing emerging local and national planning policy
· Supervising junior members of the team – managing their workload, and supporting their development
· Making a positive contribution to life at Athene and making it a great place to work
· Seeking out and bringing in new business – whether through new or existing contacts, tender opportunities or attending networking events
· Taking an active approach to your own development
The skills you’ll have
You will:
· Be a skilled and natural communicator – with the ability to not only write engaging content, but also to articulate yourself clearly and confidently
· Have project management experience, ideally with knowledge of PR, political lobbying and stakeholder engagement , or be able to demonstrate how your experience and skills are transferable to these disciplines
· Be capable of developing comprehensive and deliverable engagement and communication strategies for complex projects and presenting them to clients
· Be able to think strategically and to research and understand the wider policy environment that will impact engagement and consultation
· Have an understanding of how the UK planning and political systems work, or you’ll certainly be keen to learn
· Have experience of managing clients, accounts and projects, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients, partners and suppliers
· Have high standards, take pride in your work, and have a keen eye for detail
· Be comfortable working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You’ll enjoy variety, thrive in a busy office environment, and won’t mind last minute changes to plan!
· Be an effective ambassador for the company
The basics…
· You’ll be qualified to degree level or equivalent
· You’ll have a detailed understanding of PR and communications disciplines
· You’ll be comfortable with committing to working outside of normal working hours when needed
· You’ll also have a willingness to undertake travel when necessary
Your salary and benefits
· £26-34k (dependant on experience)
· 24 days holiday (excluding bank holidays) plus an additional day off for your birthday and another at Christmas
