POSITION DESCRIPTION: Production/Packaging (Racking/Canning/Bottling)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Line Operator performs all tasks involved in the packaging of products on the packaging line. This includesmachine operation, inspection, maintenance and packing. Follows standard work methods and practice safe workhabits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Minimize scrap and waste while maximizingproductivity without endangering self or others. Candidate must be enthusiastic about the brewing industry and must have a respect for great beer and sustainability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely set-up and operate packaging equipment as directed. Follow shift supervisor and/or trainer’s instruction
  • Meet all efficiency, quality, and cost standards.
  • Safely set-up and operate packaging equipment as directed. Follow shift supervisor and/or trainer’s instructionswhile training, operate all equipment to SOPs and work instructions when training is complete.
  • Troubleshoot machinery during operation.
  • Make necessary adjustments to misadjusted equipment and report major malfunctions to the immediatesupervisor.
  • Manage quality control of all machine applications.
  • Maintain quality control of product leaving designated machine.
  • Wear the proper safety equipment and materials.
  • Verify daily packaging schedule prior to start-up.
  • Complete operator reports including tracking production on schedule boards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Clean machines at the end of packaging run.
  • Cross-train on all packaging equipment (including racking machine).Assist coworkers in performing their duties.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
  • Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
  • Sort and salvage all usable raw materials and disposable packaging.
  • Tally packaging losses and mislabeled bottles.
  • Attach appropriate labels and tags to products and packages.
  • Pack finished goods into correct packages and boxes.
  • Work in a safe, ergonomic manner (avoid lifting extremely heavy objects).

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS OR RESPONSIBILITES

  • Openly communicate ideas and suggestions for improvements.
  • Rotate positions willingly and with others in mind.
  • Take action to prevent scrap; identify to supervisor recurring scrap issues.
  • Promote the HUB brands in the consumer sector when visiting bars, restaurants and stores that sell beer.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required and assigned.

SKILLS

  • The position will be required to perform basic math
  • Proficiency in most or all for the line positions / equipment including gluing and palletizing, drop packing and topsealing, de-palletizing, packing and hand packing.
  • Knowledge of safe work operations, safety policies and procedures
  • Able to drive a forklift
  • Mechanical aptitude

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Forklift Certification, valid Driver License

High School Diploma

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Regularly lift/carry 30-40 lbs.

Occasionally lift 50-75 lbs.

Regularly walk, climb, balance, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.
