MAJOR Equipment:

Shared equipment at RNA Therapeutics Institute (RTI): RTI departmental equipment located on the same floor as our lab at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) includes two double Innova 44/44R and a triple Thermo environmental shakers, a Beckmann XE-90 ultracentrifuge, a Beckman L-90K Ultracentrifuge, a Beckman Optima Max-TL tabletop ultracentrifuge, two Sorvall RC-4 floor low speed centrifuge, two Sorvall RC-6+ high speed floor centrifuge, a Varian Cary 50 UV spectrophotometer, a PerkinElmer Tricarb 2910 scintillation counter, a BioRad VersaDoc imager and GE Healthcare LAS4000 imager (both for gel documentation, fluorescence with red, blue, green and UV, and chemiluminescence with over four orders of magnitude of signal linear dynamic range), a GE Healthcare Typhoon FLA9000 phosphorimager, a sonicator, two BioRad CFX96 real-time PCR systems, an Eppendoff RealPlex real-time PCR system, a BioRad C1000 PCR machine, a BioRad iMark Microplate Absorbance reader, a GloMax-Multi microplate reader (For absorbance and Fluorescence) Molecular Device SpectraMax M5 plate reader (For UV-visible absorbance, Fluorescence and Glow luminescence), an Aligent Bioanalyzer, a Speed vac system, a Freezone PL2 lyophilizer, a bench-top Microfluidizer M110P-UL processor (for cell rupture) and a Nikon Eclipse Ti inverted fluorescent microscope with DIC and Phase. There are also two back up -20oC freezers, one back up -80oC freezers and two CO2 incubators available for emergency use, regular delivery of dry ice and liquid Nitrogen, a Genepure xCAD UV/UF-TOC water system and a centralized automatic dishwasher service, a 24-hour monitored cryogenic storage center, five autoclaves and a poster printer. We are also in the process of acquiring more equipment to meet the needs of our growing department.

In addition to departmental equipment, our exceptionally well-equipped labs in the RTI share equipment in an open-concept lab space. Among the numerous equipment that our lab has access to includes: AKTAExplorer 10 chromatography systems, Bio-Rad Biolistic Particle Delivery system, Nucleofector, HPLCs, preparative FPLC systems, LC-MS, Accuri Flow Cytometer, ABI Expidite 8909 DNA/RNA synthesizers, ABI Peptide synthesizer, Teledyne R 200 Combiflash purification system, K100X glow discharge, Retsch Mixer Mills, Covaris shearer, Osmometer, Refractormeter, Viscosimeter, Tissue slicer, Microtome and numerous Imaging systems, Centrifuges, Nanodrops, Real time PCR systems, Plate readers, Gel driers, hybridization ovens, Biosafety cabinets, CO2 incubators, pure water systems, and stereomicroscopes. There is also a Deltavision deconvolution fluorescence light microscope, a JANSi UVEX-A brightfiled/UV fluorescence compound scope, a Zeiss Axiovert confocal microscope and a number of other high-end microscopes to share.
