We have an exciting new opportunity for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist (Manufacturing)located at our Corporate Headquarters in Vadnais Heights, MN (a suburb of St. Paul, MN). This position will beresponsible for sourcing, quoting, negotiating, purchasing, and monitoring delivery of materials in support of capital projects and key R&D projects. In addition, they will guide supplier selection and strategic direction based on a developed understanding of project desired outcome.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Act as liaison between Engineering and Purchasing. Enhancing day to day communication including engineering changes, deviations, and supplier relationship management.
  • Support capital projects from start to finish. Expedite, follow up, and communicate progress on a weekly basis.
  • Perform competitive supplier selections and reviews and conduct a total cost ownership assessment to evaluate bids.
  • Process requisitions to purchase orders for capital project related activity.
  • Negotiate price, time frame, terms, and delivery to achieve maximum benefit with minimum cost.
  • Track delivery of goods and services to meet project delivery dates.
  • Follow established company policies and procedures.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain/Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in obtaining quotes, price negotiation, vendor selection, related to industrial equipment and supplies.
  • Familiarity with a broad spectrum of manufacturing processes, preferably in the chemical industry, and knowledge of factors which influence pricing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure that information is transmitted clearly, thoroughly, and tactfully.
