EXPLANATORY NOTES

Supervisors are responsible for ensuring all new personnel,including contract and continuing staff, casual staff, part-time teachers, Honours students and Research Higher Degree candidates,are inducted into their work area.

Inductees must complete thisWork Health and Safety (WHS) Induction Checklist, found at.The original signed document must be retained by the supervisor or with the WHS documentation for the area. A copy is to be provided to the inductee for future reference.

This checklist can also be used as a refresher for existing personnel.

Supervisors can delegate responsibility for aspects of the induction processto other staff members with relevant technical or other expertise. Where there are hazards in the area, the person delegated must be familiar with those hazards.The supervisor still remains responsible for ensuring the process is completed.
