Job Summary:
Collects and records data, observes engineering projects, provides technical support to engineering projects and prepares documentation packages. Provides coordinated and expedited support to engineering projects. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
Essential Functions:
§ Assists in office engineering activities related to public improvement contracts; assists in performing all related office work as required in order to ensure the smooth initiation, progress and completion of the contract, including keeping records, files, progress charts, graphs and schedules; performs general clerical work as necessary.
§ Assists the Project Engineer in procuring and administering outside professional consultants including: prepares draft requests for proposals; reviews technical proposals and price proposals; reviews the consultant's progress; reviews the consultant's invoices, keeps records of expenditures and balances; administers completion of the work and close out of the contract.
§ Assists the Project Engineer in the administration of the design and construction of District public improvement projects, including: prepares and reviews specifications; participates in the bid process, including prepare addenda, attends prebid conferences and prepares minutes; participates in the construction process, including review of shop drawings, requests from the contractor to clarify the contract documents, and requests for change orders; processes change orders through approval process, including Federal and State levels.
§ Provides computerized support as directed in assessing proper permit limitations in areas such as solid and liquid disposal and air quality.
§ Designs presentations for public audiences using graphs, charts and 3D drawings to answer questions and presents information regarding planning and design projects.
§ Utilizes computers in all aspects of duties; evaluates and recommends software and hardware purchases, implements start-up and advises others in proper use; assists Engineers in computer aided drafting and design.
§ Evaluates and recommends hardware and software purchases.
§ Checks correct documents in records, files, graphs, change orders and process charts and information that will be entered into applicable information systems.
§ Performs special projects, upon request, in the computer area.
§ Writes reports, memos and correspondence; keeps meeting minutes.
§ Reviews testing laboratory reports and check invoices for accuracy.
§ Performs routine office calculations.
§ Maintains weather condition logs.
§ Performs other duties as assigned or directed, including field duties.
